We are currently seeking to recruit candidates to the position of a Doctoral Researcher in Soil Ecology for a fixed-term from October 2, 2023 to August 31, 2027. Within the Academy of Finland research project 'Untangling the role fungal network morphology in soil carbon dynamics’ we are looking for a highly motivated doctoral researcher to pursue their doctoral studies at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The project aims at understanding how changes in fungal functional diversity impact carbon persistence in soil. The doctoral researcher will be exposed to new methods for measuring functional diversity using image-processing algorithms from pictures of fungal mycelia at microscopic and macroscopic scale. The doctoral researcher will also learn state-of-the-art methods for measuring carbon use efficiency in soil and computing skills for data analysis and visualization.
