Kvantum is now calling for new research projects for the four-year period of 1/2025 – 12/2028. The new Kvantum research projects should address the global challenges recognized in the strategy of the University of Oulu for the thematic area Climate Change and Safeguarding Biodiversity including profiling themes Changing Space Environment; Biodiverse, Arctic, Digital Water Systems and Global Resilience; Green Transition and Circular Economy; Hydrogen Future and Sustainable Steel. Deadline for the project applications is February 29, 2024.

The proposed cross-cutting priority of the 2024 SRC programmes is democracy.

The Government’s decision on the new themes for strategic research programmes has been delayed. The theme proposals put forward by the Strategic Research Council (SRC) last summerr are still being discussed, which is why the SRC has not been able to open the programme calls with the same schedule as in previous years.

NordForsk is opening a call for proposals on research that will contribute to new knowledge for a sustainable development of the Arctic. The call has no thematic priorities, but three keywords can inspire the applicants when developing their research ideas into proposals: security, natural resources and/or societal changes. Research projects will be required to consider Indigenous perspectives when relevant.

The call has two stages and will provide funding for international and interdisciplinary research projects.
