Targeted call for applications focusing on new and sustainable value chains from forest raw material. The call encompasses all types of wood-based products, such as building components, furniture, textiles, packaging and other new materials, but not bioenergy and biofuels. Funding is available for consortia where the consortium partners are from Finland and Sweden. The consortia are led by an early-career researcher with no more than ten years since their first doctoral degree. The joint application must include at least one and up to two consortium partners from each country. Maximum funding is 300,000 euros per subproject for two-year projects
International joint call: Solar-driven chemistry 2021/2022 (SDC2) – Research programmehttps://www.aka.fi/en/research-funding/apply-for-funding/calls-for-applications/international-calls/international-joint-call-solar-driven-chemistry-sdc2-research-programme/, DL 29.10.2021 (first stage)
The subject of this call is fundamental research in all sub-areas relevant to the photochemical transformation of small, abundant molecules, such as carbon dioxide, water or nitrogen, into more valuable, storable chemicals by means of solar radiation. The proposals should focus on the photochemical processes (reactions) and on solving fundamental problems. Each consortium application shall include 2–4 partners from 2–4 countries. In addition to the Academy of Finland, the initiative involves research funding organisations from France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Turkey. The maximum total funding that can be applied for from the Academy is 330,000 euros (€110,000 per year) if the consortium has one Finnish partner. If the consortium has two Finnish partners, the maximum funding for them together is 450,000 euros (€150,000 per year). The aim is to fund around three projects. This call aims to support transnational research projects (3-years duration) addressing one or more of the three (non-exclusive) themes below:
* THEME 1 – Knowledge for identifying priority conservation areas, establishing effective and resilient ecological networks, enhancing species-based protection and preserving genetic diversity * THEME 2 – Multiple benefits and costs of biodiversity and ecosystem protection: synergies and trade-offs * THEME 3 – Effective management and equitable governance to deliver bold conservation outcome
Projects combining aspects from several themes are encouraged. This call is focused on the protection of biodiversity in the wild. This does not, for example, include efforts for restoration of habitats and species, or ex-situ conservation.
STN- Strategisen tutkimuksen neuvosto / SRC – Strategic Research Council
The Finnish Government has decided the themes for the strategic research programmes to be launched next year. The two themes are:
* Children and young people – healthy, thriving and capable makers of the future * Security and trust in the age of algorithms.
The cross-cutting priority in both themes is equality.
The SRC funds long-term and scientifically high-level research aimed at finding solutions to major challenges facing Finnish society through multidisciplinary and interactive approaches. From the projects to be funded, the SRC expects active interaction between knowledge producers and knowledge users, covering the entire life cycle of the research.
The call text and guidelines will be published in early November (TBC) on the Academy of Finland’s website. The first call stage will be open until early January 2022.

Business Finland järjestää kaksi rinnakkaista hakua infrastruktuurien kehittämisen rahoituksesta. Haut toteutetaan osana Suomen kestävän kasvun ohjelmaa (RRF). Suomen kestävän kasvun ohjelman tavoitteeksi on asetettu turvata suomalaista ja eurooppalaista kilpailukykyä parantamalla olemassa olevia ja synnyttämällä uusia testaus-, kokeilu- ja innovaatioympäristöjä, jotka avaavat mahdollisuuksia sekä yrityksille että tutkijoille kokeilla edistyksellisiä soveltavia ratkaisuja kontrolloidussa aidoissa käyttöympäristöissä.
Infrastruktuurihaun teemat ovat:
1. 6G-, tekoäly- ja kvanttilaskennan kehitystä edistävien testi-, kokeilu-, tutkimus- ja innovaatioympäristöjen rakentaminen tai kehittäminen. (rahoitusta haussa 10 M€) 2. Kestävää kasvua ja digitalisaatiota tukevien testi-, kokeilu-, tutkimus- tai innovaatioinfrastruktuurien rakentaminen tai kehittäminen. (rahoitusta haussa 25 M€)
Haussa käytetään seuraavia rahoitusmuotoja:
1. Rahoitus tutkimusinfrastruktuureille
Perus- tai teollisen tutkimuksen käyttöön tarkoitettujen taloudellista toimintaa harjoittavien tutkimusympäristöjen rakentamiseen tai kehittämiseen.
Business Finland voi rahoittaa em. ympäristöjen investointeihin liittyviä kustannuksia. Rahoitusosuus on 50 %.
1. Rahoitus innovaatioklustereiden infrastruktuureille ja innovaatioklustereiden toiminnan tukemiseen
Innovaatioklusterirahoitusta innovaatiotoimijoiden yhteistyössä muodostamien ja organisoimien innovaatioklustereiden ylläpitämien testi-, kokeilu-, tutkimus- ja
innovaatioympäristöjen rakentamiseen tai kehittämiseen sekä innovaatioklustereiden toiminnan tukemiseen. Business Finland voi myöntää tukea em. ympäristöjen
investointeihin liittyviin kustannuksiin sekä klusterin toimintamenoihin. Rahoitusosuus on 50 %.
1. Molemmissa teemoissa voidaan myöntää rahoitusta myös teemoja edistäville co-innovation-projektikokonaisuuksille. Rahoitusta voidaan myöntää tutkimus-
ja tki co-innovation – rahoituspalvelun periaatteiden mukaisesti usean organisaation muodostamiin yhteisiin projektikokonaisuuksiin. Rahoitettavien co-innovation -projektien tulee liittyminen teemoja edistävien laajasti käytettävissä olevien infrastruktuurien kehittymiseen täytyy olla konkreettinen ja selkeä. Rahoituksessa noudatetaan co-innovation haun rahoitusperiaatteita.
