Hi all,
As we shortly talked on a last unit meeting, it would be good to have a file where we have a list of field (or other) equipment in our unit, so that we can better plan e.g. new courses and projects, and also support each other. The list is here: S:\Biologia\Yhteiset\Equipment_unit.xlsx
Please, fill it in 🙂 The structure of the file is simple: equipment, quantity, and contact person. Note that listing the equipment does not mean it automatically becomes available for others to use (unless it is our unit's). A person interested in that equipment will always contact you first and ask for a permission.

Hi,
I could not participate that unit meeting but have a question:
What is an equipment?
Is a pit fall trap an equipment? How about waders? Or a satellite transmitter? Binoculars?
I mean we have lots of small equipment that have been purchased using project money and that are in practise used by one group only, although such things in theory should be available to anyone, at last once the project is over.
Best regards,
Marko

Hello Marko,
Yes, these are good examples of "equipment". Basically, whatever you feel is relevant, feel free to add. We can even list the lab machines there, if we want to. But the expensive machines have already been catalogued in an old (2014) document for the whole uni. Petri knows more about that list. Later, based on what we get in the list, we can categorize the items to e.g. "field", "lab", etc. Any ideas are welcome.
