In relation to the topics presented on the slides, we discussed some additional things: - Publication targets and costs: o We of course aim to as high-class journals as possible with the publications included in the thesis. For choosing the journals, you may find the JUFO classification helpful in addition to impact factors: https://www.tsv.fi/julkaisufoorumi/haku.php?lang=en o Our university is a part of FinELib, which has agreements with several publishers that allow for discounts and free-of-charge open publishing: https://libguides.oulu.fi/openpublishing/discounts - Kaamos preparations are about to get started; a kick-off meeting will happen soon. This year, the Kaamos symposium will take place on 4.-5.12. - A peer support group among PhD students will be formed: regular informal meetings to socialize and help each other with various topics related to life as a PhD researcher
