Dear All,
We are pleased to announce that the Water Energy and Environmental Engineering research unit is organizing a PhD level course on Emerging Contaminants in Urban Waters: Sampling, Analysis, Data Treatment Interpretation and Environmental Protection Solutions (5ECTs).
The course will provide an in-depth description of contaminants of emerging concern and their properties aiming at increasing the attendant's ability to understand their behaviour in the natural environment in addition to recognizing the importance of different sources. Furthermore, the course will provide concrete tools, skills, and competencies to be used in the elaboration of monitoring programs, selection of analytical methods and sampling techniques, detection data interpretation and finally on contaminant reduction technologies both active and nature-based solutions.
Detailed description of the course objectives, teaching methods and schedule can be found in the document attached.
The course will consist of 3 Modules with an active lecture module scheduled for the 10th to 12th of December 2024 (09:00-16:00). Specialists from different topics from Finland and abroad will provide the lectures.
Focus will be placed on students attending the course in person (max 20) although the opportunity will also be given for students (max 10) to follow the course online.
