This autumn we will offer a new course "Introduction to container-based scientific tools in supercomputing” in collaboration with Koç University, Turkey, as part of the University Alliance program (UNIC). The course will take place in-person here in Oulu November 17-21 2025. Registration is now open in Peppi (NA00BC17-3001). Below is a short description of the course. I hope many of you can join.

Many scientific applications depend on specific libraries and software packages that must be managed in a controlled setup. Containers make this process easier by packaging an application with all its dependencies into a single, isolated environment. This allows the application to run consistently across different systems, whether on a personal laptop, a private data center, or high-performance computing (HPC) environments. In this course, you will learn: - The essential concepts of HPC containers - The basics of building and running containers - Deploying containerized applications in HPC systems (CSC).
