EIC Pathfinder Open call (ex FET-OPEN) opening today!

Dear Researchers, The European Innovation Council is opening the EIC Pathfinder today and EIC Pathfinder Challenge call in a near future. The Pathfinder call is the former FET Open and the Pathfinder challenge is a former FET Open thematic call. We have two funded FET-OPEN projects at the Kontinkangas campus so this is a competitive but achievable funding. Opening today: EIC Pathfinder Challenge (Fully bottom-up) Funding for an ambitious vision for radically new technology, with potential to create new markets and/or to address global challenges. EIC Pathfinder Open supports early stage development of such future technologies (e.g. various activities at low Technology Readiness Levels 1-4), based on high-risk/high-gain science-towards-technology breakthrough research (including 'deep-tech'). This research must provide the foundations of the technology that is envisioned. EIC Pathfinder Open may support highly risky work to try things that will not work; to answer unanswered questions or test problems that are not mastered yet. Project budget is approx. 3 MEUR. Pathfinder Gatekeepers: * Convincing long-term vision of a radically new technology that has the potential to have a transformative positive effect to our economy and society. * Concrete, novel and ambitious science-towards-technology breakthrough, providing advancement towards the envisioned technology. * High-risk/high-gain research approach and methodology, with concrete and plausible objectives. The call is opening 08 April 2021 and the Deadline date is 19 May 2021 Eligible applicants are consortia with organisations (university, research organisations, SMEs) from at least 3 different EU member states or associated countries (i.e. Norway, Switzerland etc.). Novel routes to green hydrogen production 5. Dear all, If you are considering using Incucyte S3 live-cell analysis system in the near future, please join Incucyte user training on April 29th, from 9.30 to 15.30. Please find the program attached. The training will introduce the new features following the software update on 4th of May and go through basic Incucyte S3 applications and analysis. There is also time for questions/ troubleshooting of your own data in the end of the training. All interested are welcome and no preregistration is required. Rigor, reproducibility and data management in life science

Dear researchers You must have heard about "reproducibility crisis". Does it exist, is it a problem? Regardless of an answer, adherence to Good Scientific Practice is more important than ever. This includes the way we prepare, design, conduct, analyze and report our studies. What and how we can improve there? Is it time for change? These questions will be addressed during the virtual workshop on April 21. All our speakers are involved in the EQIPD consortium (Enhancing Quality in Preclinical Data - https://quality-preclinical-data.eu/), with Prof. Malcolm Macleod and Dr. Thomas Steckler being the leaders of the project. In the end, we propose to establish the Finnish Reproducibility Network (RN), and to join the network of already established RNs (in UK, Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, Australia - https://www.ukrn.org/international-networks/). FW: VTR (valtion tutkimusrahoitus) -haku avautui OYS-ervalla

Yliopistotasoisen terveyden tutkimuksen valtion rahoituksen hakeminen vuodelle 2022 Oulun yliopistollisen sairaalan (OYS) erityisvastuualueella OYS-erva tutkimustoimikunta julistaa haettavaksi vuoden 2022 valtion tutkimusrahoitusta yliopistotasoiseen terveyden tutkimukseen. Tutkimusrahoitus osoitetaan tutkimushankkeille. Arvioinnissa huomioidaan hakijan tieteelliset ansiot ja julkaisut sekä tutkimusryhmän kokoonpano. Tutkimushankkeen tutkimussuunnitelman perustelut, menetelmät ja aineisto, toteutus, merkitys tieteenalalla ja odotetut tutkimustulokset pisteytetään. OYS:n erityisvastuualueella toimivat tutkijat voivat hakea tutkimusrahoitusta enintään 80 000 euroa/hanke. Kultakin hakijalta ja hankkeelta voi tulla vain yksi hakemus. Rahoitusta voi hakea yhdelle tai kahdelle vuodelle (optio). Hakijan täytyy olla työsuhteessa terveydenhuollon toimintayksikköä ylläpitävään kuntaan, kuntayhtymään, valtion mielisairaalaan tai sosiaali- ja terveysministeriön voimassa olevalla asetuksella säädettyyn palvelujen tuottajaan. Hänen täytyy olla * yksikön päätoiminen tai osa-aikainen (väh. 20 %) työntekijä tai * yksikön sivuvirkaan otettu yliopiston professori tai opettaja. Tutkimusrahoitusta voi hakea yhdestä seuraavista neljästä kategoriasta: - Kliininen ja translationaalinen terveystieteellinen tutkimus - Tulevaisuuden dataintensiivisten tutkimusmenetelmien saaminen terveydenhuollon käyttöön - Terveys- ja hyvinvointieroja kaventavan palvelujärjestelmän kehittämistä tukeva tutkimus, alueelliset ja pienten alojen tutkimushankkeet - Start up -rahoitus ja tutkijan urapolun tukeminen.
