Subject: Launch of 2026 AXA Chairs - Call for Projects
[A picture containing logo Description automatically generated]
Dear Madam, Sir,
The AXA Foundation for Human Progress is delighted to announce that the 2026 AXA Chairs campaign is now open. Detailed information is available at the link here<https://axa-research.org/fund-your-research/axa-chairs> and in the attached Guidelines.
The AXA Chairs program aims to advance the understanding of uncertainty and address global risks, with a focus on health, environment, and socioeconomics. Following the ongoing integration of the AXA Research Fund and the Health Philanthropy Programme of the Mutuelles d’Assurances AXA into the AXA Foundation for Human Progress, the 2026 Chair campaign will feature two project categories for the first time:
1. Global Category, which supports international transdisciplinary research in climate and environment, health, and socioeconomics.
2. Health in France, which exclusively supports health-related research projects conducted in France by French institutions.
Important Notes:
* Each Host Institution may submit only one candidate per campaign under each category.
* Candidates cannot be submitted for both the Global category and the Health in France category. Submitting the same project under both categories will result in disqualification.
* Expressions of interest will be reviewed by AXA, and the shortlist for full applications will be determined based on the relevance of the proposed topics to the selected project category.
Deadline:
The deadline to submit your Expression of Interest is Friday, October 10th, 2025, at 4:00 PM CET.
How to Apply:
1. Register or log in to our online portal: https://institution.axa-research.org/
2. Navigate to the “Application” section. Select the appropriate “category” for your project.
3. Complete the Expression of Interest form.
4. Submit your application.
We wish you the very best with your application and look forward to your participation in this campaign.
Best regards,
Science Team of the AXA Foundation for Human Progress

Dear all,
Next Thursday, September 25, at15.15-16 in F202 Pharmacology there will be a seminar by Professor Derek Logan from SciLifeLab and Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology, Lund University, Sweden. The title of the seminar is "The amazingly versatile ATP-cone domain and its role in ribonucleotide reductase regulation".
More information about his research and publications https://www.scilifelab.se/researchers/derek-logan/
"My research probes biological structure-function relationships using X-ray and neutron diffraction, cryo-electron microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering, cross-linking mass spectrometry, biophysical and biochemical analyses. Two particular current focus areas are allosteric regulation of the essential enzyme ribonucleotide reductase, at both the enzyme and transcriptional levels, as well as drug design against the galectin family of carbohydrate binding proteins."
Welcome everybody! No registration required.
Coffee is served during networking session 20 min before the presentation time.
Field specific credits can be earned according to UniOGS recommendations<https://www.oulu.fi/en/research/graduate-school/thesis-requirements-and-stu…> (attendance at scientific seminars for 10 hours: 0,5ECTS)
If you would like to have separate discussions with the speaker, please contact Teija.luoto(a)oulu.fi<mailto:Teija.luoto@oulu.fi> who will set up the meeting time.
