(In English below) Ideahaku Akatemian tutkimusinfrastruktuurihakuihin osallistuville päättyy 19.2. Suomen Akatemia avaa maaliskuussa 2026 rinnakkain kaksi tutkimusinfrastruktuurihakua: 1) Temaattiset tutkimusinfrastruktuurit Haun tavoitteena on edistää alueellista elinvoimaisuutta ja kunnianhimoista T&K-toimintaa. Tutkimusinfrastruktuurirahoitusta suunnataan korkeatasoista soveltavaa tutkimusta tekeville tutkimusorganisaatioille, kuten ammattikorkeakouluille. Rahoitus kohdistuu alueellisesti merkittävien paikallisten tutkimusinfrastruktuurien rakentamiseen ja päivittämiseen. Kukin tutkimusorganisaatio voi osallistua hakuun korkeintaan kolmella hakemuksella. Yksittäinen tutkimusorganisaatio saa osallistua konsortiomuotoiseen hakemukseen vain yhdellä osahankkeella. Haun avulla tutkimusinfrastruktuureja kehitetään sektoreiden välisenä yhteistyönä. Yhteistyö vahvistaa palveluiden ja osaamisen hyödyntämistä sekä kerryttää kumppanien T&K-osaamista. Hakemuksessa tulee olla vähintään yksi alueellinen yhteistyökumppani. Rahoitettujen tutkimusinfrastruktuurien tulee edistää alueellisia T&K-toimintaan liittyviä tavoitteita. Niitä on kartoitettu muun muassa älykkään erikoistumisen strategioissa ja muissa maakuntatason strategioissa. Yksittäiselle tutkimusinfrastruktuurihankkeelle myönnetään rahoitusta enintään kaksi miljoonaa euroa. Konsortiomuotoiselle tutkimusinfrastruktuurihankkeelle myönnetään rahoitusta enintään kolme miljoonaa euroa ja sen osahankkeelle enintään kaksi miljoonaa euroa. Koko haulle on varattu yhteensä 30 miljoonaa euroa. 2) Yhteiskäyttöiset tutkimusinfrastruktuurit Rahoitus on tarkoitettu tiekartalla olevien ja tiekartan ulkopuolisten kansallisten tutkimusinfrastruktuurien kehittämiskuluihin. Haun tavoitteena on edistää uusien innovaatioiden syntymistä ja kunnianhimoista T&K-toimintaa suuntaamalla infrastruktuurirahoitusta näiden monipuolisen käytön lisäämiseen. Rahoitus kohdistuu kansainvälisesti korkeatasoisten ja TKI-järjestelmän eri käyttäjäryhmien hyödyntämien tutkimusinfrastruktuurien ja niiden sisältämien testausalustojen yhteiskäytön lisäämiseen. Rahoituksella kehitetään palveluita uusille käyttäjäryhmille, jotka muodostuvat akateemisen sektorin ulkopuolisista TKI-toimijoista. Rahoitetuilla tutkimusinfrastruktuureilla tulee olla myös merkitystä kansallisten tai kansainvälisten osaamiskeskittymien ja TKI-ekosysteemien, kuten esimerkiksi lippulaivojen tai veturiekosysteemien, toimintaan. Majakkatutkimusinfrastruktuurit voivat lisäksi hakea rahoitusta innovaatio- ja sidosryhmäyhteistyön asiantuntijan palkkaukseen sekä tutkimusinfrastruktuurin vakinaisen henkilöstön osaamisen tavoitteelliseen kehittämiseen osana kehittämishanketta. Akatemialta haettavan rahoitusosuuden suositeltava alaraja on yksittäisen hakemuksen osalta 200 000 euroa. Konsortiohakemuksessa osahankkeen suositeltava alaraja on 100 000 euroa ja koko konsortion suositeltava alaraja on 600 000 euroa. Koko haulle on varattu yhteensä 70 miljoonaa euroa. Tiekartan tutkimusinfrastruktuurit voivat hakea rahoitusta viidelle vuodelle ja tiekartan ulkopuoliset tutkimusinfrastruktuurit kolmelle vuodelle. Oulun yliopiston ideahaku Oulun yliopiston sisäinen ideahaku käynnistetään, jotta voidaan priorisoida jätettävät hakemukset rahoittajan ohjeiden mukaisesti. Temaattiset tutkimusinfrastruktuurit -haussa kukin tutkimusorganisaatio voi osallistua hakuun korkeintaan kolmella hakemuksella. Yksittäinen tutkimusorganisaatio saa osallistua konsortiomuotoiseen hakemukseen vain yhdellä osahankkeella. Päätöksen jätettävistä hakemuksista tekee yliopiston rehtori, tutkimusneuvoston ja tutkimuksen johtoryhmän käsittelyiden jälkeen. Sisäinen aikataulu on sidottu em. toimielinten kokousaikatauluihin ja saatavuuteen. Yhteiskäyttöiset tutkimusinfrastruktuurit -haussa vastaavaa hakurajoitusta ei ole toistaiseksi tiedossa (odotamme Akatemialta lisätietoja), mutta myös tähän hakuun osallistuvien tulee jättää idealomake. The research infrastructure funding will be directed to research organisations that carry out high-quality applied research, such as universities of applied sciences. The funding will focus on building and upgrading local research infrastructures of regional importance. Each research organisation may participate in the call with a maximum of three applications. A single research organisation may participate in a consortium application with only one subproject. The call will contribute to enhancing research infrastructures through cross-sectoral cooperation. The cooperation will strengthen the use of services and expertise and accumulate R&D expertise among collaborators. Applications submitted to the call must include at least one regional collaborator. Funded research infrastructures must contribute to regional R&D objectives. These have been mapped in, for example, smart specialisation strategies and other strategies at region level. A maximum of 2 million euros will be granted to an individual research infrastructure project. A consortium-based research infrastructure project will be granted up to 3 million euros, and subprojects up to 2 million euros. The call has a total funding budget of 30 million euros. 2) Call for shared-use research infrastructures The funding is intended to cover the development costs of national research infrastructures, both roadmap and non-roadmap research infrastructures. The aim of the call is to promote innovation creation and ambitious R&D by directing infrastructure funding to increase versatile research infrastructure use. The funding will be directed at increasing the shared use of internationally high-quality research infrastructures and testing platforms used by various user groups of the research, development and innovation (RDI) system. The funding will be used to develop services for new user groups of RDI actors beyond academia. The funded research infrastructures must also be relevant to Finland’s national or international competence clusters and RDI ecosystems, such as Finnish Flagships or leading companies and ecosystems. In addition, research infrastructures with lighthouse status can apply for funding to hire an innovation and stakeholder cooperation expert, as well as for the goal-oriented competence development of the permanent staff of the research infrastructure as part of a development project. The recommended minimum amount of the Research Council of Finland’s contribution to an individual application is 200,000 euros. The recommended minimum amount for the contribution to a consortium subproject is 100,000 euros, and 600,000 euros for the whole consortium. The call has a total funding budget of 70 million euros. Roadmap research infrastructures can apply for funding for five years, and research infrastructures outside the roadmap for three years. University of Oulu Idea Call An internal idea call is launched at the University of Oulu in order to prioritize and select applications according to the funder’s requirements. In the Call for thematic research infrastructures each research organisation may participate in the call with a maximum of three applications. A single research organisation may participate in a consortium application with only one subproject. The decision on the applications to be submitted will be made by the Rector, following University’s Research Council and Management Group of Research processing. The internal schedule is tied to their meeting schedules and availability. There is no known limitation (we are expecting confirmation from RCF) in the call for Shared-use research infrastructures, but applicants in this call will also need to take part in the idea call. Dear all, We are happy to announce the schedule for the 35th Biocenter Oulu Day, titled “Across the immuniverse – the many dimensions of immunology”. The event will be held on March 12, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 16:00 PM in Kontinkangas campus, Aapistie 5A, Leena Palotie auditorium 101A. As part of tradition, we will publish the Biocenter Day bulletin, where research groups can present their latest work in the form of "mini posters". The call for mini posters is now open. Please note that the topic of your mini poster does not need to align with the theme of the event. The aim is simply to showcase ongoing research within Biocenter Oulu. Hei, tässä lyhyt yhteenveto kokouksen asioista. Brief summary in English below. Soluviljelijöiden kokous ke 28.1. CRC:n kahvihuone 1. Keskusteltiin suuremman soluviljelylabran (341B) tilan puutteesta. Tällä hetkellä tilanne oli rauhallisempi, mutta odotettavissa on ruuhkaa kun useamman tutkimusryhmän soluviljelyt käynnistyvät vuoden alun jälkeen. Vapaata työskentelyaikaa laminaareihin on haasteellista löytää päiväsaikaan etenkin ma, ke ja pe jotka ovat soluviljelyn kannalta olennaisimmat päivät. Pohdimme, kuinka järjestellä ryhmien jakoa eri soluviljelytiloihin niin, että kaikki mahtuisivat joustavasti työajan puitteissa viljelemään soluja. Viereisessä, pienemmässä 342B labrassa, on vähän säilytystilaa eikä sen laajentamiseen ole saatu lupaa, joten ryhmän siirtyminen kokonaan tavaroineen päivineen ei sinne onnistu. Sujuvan työskentelyn takaamiseksi soluviljelijöiden kannattaa tiedottaa toisia tilassa työskenteleviä, jos on tulossa aikaa vieviä kokeita kiireisimmille päiville tai paljon tilaa vieviä kasvatuksia hiilidioksidikaappeihin jotta eri tutkimusryhmien kokeita voidaan aikatauluttaa limittäin. Sen lisäksi voi käyttää viereisen laboratorion laminaaria ja hiilidioksidikaappia tarpeen mukaan. 2. Mainittiin lyhyesti uuden hiilidioksidikaapin tarpeesta. Sellainen saataisiin mahtumaan tilan ja hiilidioksidiliittymän puolesta, jos tarvittava rahoitus järjestyisi. 3. Nestetyppitankkien inventaario on vielä osalla ryhmistä kesken. Useimmilla ryhmillä tilaa on hyvin rajallisesti, parin laatikon verran. Lisätilaa ei tällä hetkellä ole tiedossa. Pohdittiin arkistointitankin mahdollisuutta CRC:n ulkopuolelle, mutta tällöin nestetypestä sekä mahdollisesta tilavuokrasta aiheutuviin kuluihin ei ole rahoitusta. 4. Kantasolulaboratorion eteistilaan on asennettu uusi mikroskooppi jonka verkkoyhteyttä kuvien siirtoa varten ei ole vielä saatu täysin toimimaan. Tarkempia tietoja voi kysyä Sallalta. 342B laboratorion mikroskooppi on lähetetty korjattavaksi. Väliaikaisesti soluja kuvataan viereisen labran 341B mikroskoopilla. 5. UV-lamppujen testaamiseen on Antti hankkinut testikortteja. 6. Uusien henkilöiden perehdytyksessä on tärkeää muistaa kertoa ampullien ”räjähdysherkkyydestä”, etenkin jos ne ehtivät lämmetä sekä suojavarusteiden käytöstä. Jos on tarpeen tutkia/etsiä näytteitä pidempään, tulee laatikko laittaa kuivajäille ja rack takaisin tankkiin. Yksi maskeista vietiin myös -70C:een pakastimien luo missä sitä voi käyttää poksahtelevien eppareiden (snap-frozen näytteet) suojana. 7. Mervi on tehnyt kiireisimmille näytteille mykoplasmatestin. Kaikki ovat olleet negatiivisia. 8. Seuraava palaveri to 19.3. klo 9 CRC:n kahvihuone Cell culture meeting on Wednesday, January 28, CRC coffee room 1. We discussed the lack of space in the larger cell culture lab (341B). The situation is currently calmer, but it is expected to get busier when several research groups start their cell cultures after the beginning of the year. It is challenging to find free working time in the laminar hoods during the day, especially on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, which are the most important days for cell culture. We discussed how to organize the distribution of groups to different cell culture facilities so that everyone could flexibly cultivate cells within their working hours. The adjacent, smaller 342B lab has little storage space and permission has not been granted to expand it, so it is not possible for the group to move there with all their equipment. To ensure smooth work, one should inform others if time-consuming experiments are coming up on the busiest days or if space-consuming cultures are coming to the incubators so that the experiments of different research groups can be scheduled to overlap. In addition, the laminars and incubators in the adjacent laboratory can be used as needed. 2. The need for a new carbon dioxide incubator was briefly mentioned. Such a cabinet could be accommodated in terms of space and carbon dioxide connection if the necessary funding could be arranged. 3. Some groups have yet to complete their inventory of liquid tanks. Most groups have very limited space, only a couple of boxes. No additional space is currently available. The possibility of an archiving tank outside the CRC was considered, but there is no funding for the costs of liquid nitrogen and possible storage space. 4. A new microscope has been installed in the entry room of the stem cell laboratory, but the network connection for transferring images is not yet fully functional. For more information, please contact Salla. The microscope in laboratory 342B has been sent for repair. In the meantime, cells can be imaged using the microscope in the adjacent laboratory 341B. 5. Antti has purchased test cards for testing UV lamps. 6. When training new personnel, it is important to remember to inform them about the "explosive nature" of the ampoules, especially if they have had time to warm up, and about the use of protective masks. If it is necessary to examine/search for samples for a longer period of time, the box should be placed on dry ice and the rack back to the tank. One of the masks was also taken to the -70°C freezers, where it can be used to protect from “explosive” snap-frozen samples. 7. Mervi has performed a mycoplasma test on the most urgent samples. All of them were negative. 8. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 9 o’clock in the CRC coffee room.
