Haluan tiedottaa teille, että Kulmakuvaamo muuttaa marras–joulukuun vaihteessa uusiin tiloihin Ouluun (Hintantie 18).
Vaikka sijainti vaihtuu, yhteistyö yliopiston kanssa voi jatkua, jopa entistä paremmin! Jatkossa voimme sopia pop-up -kuvauspäiviä, jolloin tulen kuvaamaan yliopistolle ja ajat varataan etukäteen. Näin onnistuvat esimerkiksi väitösseinägalleriakuvat sekä tutkimusryhmien kuvaukset.
Ehdotukseni on, että yksiköiden kanssa järjestämme 1–2 kertaa vuodessa (tai useammin) kuvauspäivän, jolloin väitelleet tohtorit voivat varata ajan seinägalleriakuvaa varten. Kuvaukset uudella studiolla onnistuvat tietenkin myös kuten ennenkin, ja tulen edelleen mielelläni kuvaamaan erilaisia tapahtumia yliopistolle ja sairaalalle. Muutto ei siis ole este kuvauksille jatkossa.
Posteritulostukset jatkuvat samaan tapaan: voimme sopia toimituspäivän yliopistolle tai posterit voi noutaa uudelta studiolta sovittuna aikana.
Jos teillä on ajatuksia tai toiveita yhteistyön sujuvoittamiseksi, kuulen niitä mielelläni. Tarkoitus on vielä julkaista tästä muutosta yleinen tiedote koko yliopistolle, mutta voitte toki jo kertoa asiasta omille tutkijoillenne. Minuun voi olla yhteydessä lisätietojen saamiseksi, ja voimme tarvittaessa pitää myös palaverin yksiköiden johdon kanssa.

Dear University Staff,
I would like to inform you that Kulmakuvaamo will be moving to new premises in Oulu at the turn of November–December (new address: Hintantie 18).
Although the location is changing, collaboration with the university can continue – even more effectively than before! In the future, we can arrange pop-up photography days at the university, with appointments booked in advance. This way, for example, dissertation gallery portraits and research group photography can be carried out smoothly.
My suggestion is that each unit could organize 1–2 photography days per year (or more often if needed), during which newly graduated doctors can book a time for their dissertation gallery portrait. Photography at the new studio will of course still be available as before, and I will also be happy to continue photographing various events at the university and hospital. The relocation will not be an obstacle to photography services in the future.
Poster printing will continue as usual: we can agree on a delivery day to the university, or posters can be collected from the new studio at an agreed time. A general announcement about this relocation will be published later for the whole university, but you are welcome to already share this information with your researchers.
If you have any ideas or requests to improve our collaboration, I would be glad to hear them. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more details – and we can also arrange a meeting with unit management if needed.

European Innovation Council (EIC), Europe’s flagship innovation programme, funds breakthrough technologies and game changing innovations.
EIC Pathfinder Open<https://eic.ec.europa.eu/eic-funding-opportunities/eic-pathfinder/eic-pathf…> supports the exploration and early-stage research and development (e.g. TRLs 1-4) of bold ideas for radically new technologies. It welcomes the high-risk/high gain and interdisciplinary cutting-edge science collaborations that underpin technological breakthroughs. The expected output is the proof of principle that the main ideas of the technology are feasible, thus validating its scientific and technological basis. Projects in any field of science, technology or application without predefined thematic priorities may apply.
Research and Project Services offer support for researchers who plan to apply for EIC Pathfinder Open call. While the official EIC Work Programme 2026 has not yet been published, the draft currently mentions the tentative deadline for the EIC Pathfinder Open 2026 call as 6th of May 2026. Please note that this deadline is not officially confirmed and may be subject to change.
The support consists of training, support in proposal writing (e.g. call analysis, impact and implementation, open science, DMP) and budgeting. Subject to the availability of funds, support for graphic design, and external consultancy may also be offered.
All researchers planning to submit a proposal for the EIC Pathfinder Open 2026 call can express their interest to be included in the support process by answering a short Webropol questionnaire<https://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/6037CB5C0A1826AF> by 15th of January 2026.

We invite proposals for interdisciplinary workshops to be held as part of the UniOulu Science Day 2026 on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
The UniOulu Science Day brings together researchers and students from across our university to bridge disciplines and to explore new ideas, share insights, and foster collaboration. We encourage creative and cross-disciplinary workshop proposals that inspire dialogue, knowledge exchange, and new forms of collaboration.
Workshops may include a mix of presentations, interactive discussions, or hands-on activities. The autumn 2025 course for people who need to design scientific projects using animals is now open. A designer competence is compulsory for designing animal experiments and applying for a project licence to use animals in scientific or educational purpose.

Thelma Mäkikyrön säätiö sr julistaa haettavaksi 2–3 kpl enintään 15.000 euron suuruista tutkimusapurahaa sekä 2–3 kpl 2.000 euron suuruista matka-apurahaa vuoden 2026 aikana tehtävää tutkimusta varten. Säätiön hallitus varaa itselleen oikeuden jakaa apurahoja pienempiin osiin useamman saajan kesken.
Apurahat on tarkoitettu edistämään syöpätautien tutkimusta. Apurahaa voivat hakea Pohjois-Suomessa tehtävää tutkimusta varten tutkijat ja tutkimusryhmät. Säätiö tukee erityisesti post doc -vaiheen tutkimusta.

Please see the call for proposals for AXA chairs. The thematic areas are Climate and Environment, Health, and Socionomics and New Technologies. Candidates should be at least PhD +10 years at the time of the application. The AXA Research Fund’s grant can amount up to €1 million and is awarded for a period of 5 years.
The grant is awarded to the hosting institution, ie. the University of Oulu, in this case. Each institution can only send one expression of interest to AXA. The AXA Foundation for Human Progress is delighted to announce that the 2026 AXA Chairs campaign is now open. Detailed information is available at the link here<https://axa-research.org/fund-your-research/axa-chairs> and in the attached Guidelines.
The AXA Chairs program aims to advance the understanding of uncertainty and address global risks, with a focus on health, environment, and socioeconomics. Following the ongoing integration of the AXA Research Fund and the Health Philanthropy Programme of the Mutuelles d’Assurances AXA into the AXA Foundation for Human Progress, the 2026 Chair campaign will feature two project categories for the first time:
1. Global Category, which supports international transdisciplinary research in climate and environment, health, and socioeconomics.
2. Health in France, which exclusively supports health-related research projects conducted in France by French institutions.
Important Notes:
* Each Host Institution may submit only one candidate per campaign under each category.
* Candidates cannot be submitted for both the Global category and the Health in France category. Submitting the same project under both categories will result in disqualification.
* Expressions of interest will be reviewed by AXA, and the shortlist for full applications will be determined based on the relevance of the proposed topics to the selected project category.
Deadline:
The deadline to submit your Expression of Interest is Friday, October 10th, 2025, at 4:00 PM CET.
