Scientific Presentation Bootcamp

Does the idea of giving a presentation stress you? Are you tired of just reading slides? Do you want to improve your presentation skills? If you relate to any of these three questions, then this is the activity for you. The Scientific Presentation Bootcamp is a series of hands-on workshops for researchers that will help you become a more dynamic speaker.

Effective scientific communication is about your audience understanding what you say in a meaningful way: combining storytelling, visual thinking, nonverbal communication, stress management, and empathy to deliver your message in the best possible way.

Held by Guido Giunti, the series of workshops will take place on the 23rd of April from 1 PM to 4 PM at Business Kitchen and the 29th of April from 2 PM to 5 PM at Tellus Stage, where you will learn how to:

- effectively present your research

- design narrative structures for your presentations

- use images to support your message

- adapt your message to scientific and general audiences

- and use non-verbal cues to get the right reactions from your audience.

The activities will be limited to up to 20 participants, so sign up by the 14th of April here. Participants should have a concrete topic to be used during the workshops and the commitment to attend both sessions. The workshops will lead up to a Science Open Mic event held at restaurant Tuba on the 2nd of May starting at 18:00. Participants will have the option of presenting their research at the event.
