Subject: Information about actions due to corona virus in Faculty of Medicine

Dear students, teachers and staff of medicine and dentistry,

according to current information, students of the 1st and 2nd year and those who have taught them have been exposed (on Monday March 9th 2020) to some degree to coronavirus and have been placed at home quarantine for 14 days according to the instructions of an infectious disease doctor.

There have been discussions about possible exposures to coronavirus in the “Speksi” performances held last week. We have surveyed the situation with the Oulu University Hospital infectious disease doctor Teija Puhto. According to current information, there is no need for any extensive measures such as cancellation of teaching or training or quarantine for other courses (3rd to 6th year) or other members of staff. In addition, there is no reason to take any special quarantine measures for those who were in the “Speksi” performances as audience. If new infected people appear, the exposed persons will be appropriately mapped by an infectious disease doctor.

Otherwise, the university's general recommendations regarding good hand hygiene, remote work and travel should be followed.

We will inform you of the situation as quickly as possible if I receive new instructions.

Best regards,

Anne
