symposium:
Smart Science, Kind Practices – Advancing Animal Welfare Together
The Animal Welfare Body of Oulu Laboratory Animal Centre will organise a full-day 3R
symposium on Wednesday, 11 February 2026 at
9:00 – 15:30. The symposium will be held at the University of Oulu, Kontinkangas campus, Aapistie 5A, Leena Palotie
Hall (101A).
We invite
abstracts for short oral communications and posters from doctoral students and other researchers.
Doctoral researchers can earn additional study credits by presenting their work at the seminar.
Submission time for abstracts is continued until 28 January.
Oral presentations should be about the application of the
3Rs principles in your work, or at least include consideration related to the 3 Rs: How have replacement, reduction or refinement been included or advanced in your research?
Posters can cover any topic related to animal research. Considerations related to
the 3Rs are encouraged but not required.

Participation in the event can be considered as part of the annual maintenance training required by law for persons conducting research
on experimental animals. Those who attend the whole symposium will get a certificate of attendance.
