Subject: [Ltkhkunta] BCO Doctoral Programme Advanced course lecture: 8 November - Andy Minamishima
Hi Everyone,
The BCO Doctoral Programme Autumn 2011 Advanced Course lecture series Cellular Signaling Networks – from Molecular Components to Complex continues: Tuesday 8th November, at 14.15 pm, Lecture Hall A101 (Dept of Anatomy and Cell Biology) on the Medical Campus. The whole lecture programme is available at http://www.biocenter.oulu.fi/courses/2011_BCO_Advanced_Course_Autumn_Program.pdf .
Yoji Andrew (Andy) Minamishima:
Dept of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Keio University, Tokyo, Japan and Suematsu Gas Biology Project, ERATO, JST
Hypoxic response and cellular metabolism
hosted by Prof. Peppi Karppinen
Andy Minamishima’ s research interest is in hypoxia research. He works in Suematsu Gas Biology project which systematically searches for a new metabolic system control mechanism by means of advanced mass spectrometry techniques. Gas molecules are the major matter that comprise outer space. This project aims at elucidating the full profile of such workings to utilize "the wisdom of life" to serve in controlling human pathology – to understand the biological effects of gas molecules in vivo.
More information of the speaker and his research at: http://web.keio.jp/~minamishima/ and, http://gasbio.jst.go.jp/eng-sgbpro/eng-index.html
There will be bus transportation from Linnanmaa to Kontinkangas. The bus leaves from Door J on the Linnanmaa campus at 13.55 pm (20 minutes before the scheduled beginning of the lecture) and returns after the lecture to the Linnanmaa campus (leaving from in front of the Kieppi Building, Aapistie 5A, at 15.55 pm).
The Discussion Group (for registered students only) with Dr. Minamishima will meet at about 10 minutes after the end of the lecture, in the Biocenter Oulu Seminar room 487B, located on the 4th floor of the Kieppi Building (Main Building of the Medical Campus).
Best Regards,
Ritva
