Doctoral Researchers in the Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme.
Long-term and short-term positions.
We are now looking for applicants for
in the Health
and Biosciences doctoral programme (HBS-DP) of the University of Oulu. The positions are fully funded by the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS) and
by the research units.
HBS-DP funds
doctoral research in the following doctoral degree programmes: medicine, biochemistry and molecular medicine, dentistry and health sciences.
The available positions in the current call are:
NOTE! Please note that you can only apply for one position, either a 4-year, 2-year
or a short-term (3-6 months) position. Applicants who have already received a long-term doctoral researcher position from the University of Oulu are not eligible to apply.
Four-year positions: These doctoral researcher positions are primarily intended
for dissertation research for researchers who do not yet have doctoral study rights or are in the early stages of their dissertation work. The position is full-time and fixed-term for maximum of 4 years starting earliest on 1.1.2024 or as soon as possible
thereafter. In the current call, there are max 13 full-time 4-year positions for the period of 2024-2027.
Two-year positions: These doctoral researcher positions are primarily intended
for doctoral researchers in the later stages of their dissertation work for full-time dissertation research. Each position is full-time and fixed-term for maximum of 2 years starting earliest on 1.1.2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. In the current call,
there are max 6 full-time 2-year positions for the period of 2024-2025.
Short-term positions: These doctoral researcher positions are primarily intended
for doctoral researchers working as a professional in healthcare with the degree of Licentiate of Medicine, Licentiate of Dentistry or Master of Health Sciences. The positions are fixed-term for 3 months to 6 months starting earliest on 1.1.2024 ending at
the latest on 31.12.2024
You are expected to have the ability to pursue independent research, work productively in a team of various backgrounds, and potentially to supervise undergraduate students.
Specifically, you must have:
NOTE! For the two-year and four-year positions: Priority will be given to such
doctoral researchers whose supervisor is not a PI or a project member in a focus institute spearhead or emerging project and is not receiving University of Oulu (strategic) funding related to doctoral training in 2024 and onwards. The applicant should discuss
this issue with the principal supervisor who fills in the commitment form (see required attachments).
The successful candidate will be employed at the University of Oulu. The salary will be based on levels 2-4 of the demand level chart for university-level teaching and research staff
of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50% of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately €2400 – 2700 per month, depending on the qualifications.
A trial period of 6 months is applied to the position (two-year and four-year positions).

into the applicant’s set of documents (see below).
