Subject: Tilastotieteen neuvontaa / Helpdesk for statistical counselling

Väestötutkimuksen infrastruktuuriyksikkö tarjoaa tilastotieteen neuvontaa Oulun yliopiston lääketieteellisen tiedekunnan opiskelijoille ja tutkijoille.

Esimerkkejä neuvonnan aiheista:

· Tutkimus – tarvitset neuvoa syventäviin / pro gradu –tutkielmaan tai tieteelliseen artikkeliin liittyen. 

· Tilasto-ohjelmat - aineistojen yhdistäminen, rajaaminen, uusien muuttujien muodostaminen, kuvailevat tunnusluvut, graafiset esitykset, tietyn tilastollisen analyysin tekeminen. 

· Pohjois-Suomen syntymäkohorttien tutkimusohjelman aineistot

Tilastotieteen neuvontaa on tarjolla keskiviikkoisin klo 15.00–16.00 mikroluokassa KT285 (Aapistie 5B). Osallistuminen ei vaadi ennakkoilmoittautumista, mutta neuvonta perutaan, jos osallistujia ei ole tullut klo 15.15 mennessä.

Rajallinen määrä henkilökohtaisia neuvonta- ja ohjausaikoja on varattavissa www-sivuilla Northern Finland Birth Cohorts and Arctic Biobank | University of Oulu olevan ajanvarauskalenterin kautta.

Varaus neuvontaan on tehtävä vähintään 24 h aikaisemmin. Myös peruutukset tulee tehdä vähintään 24 h aikaisemmin.

Helpdesk for statistical counselling

Infrastructure for Population Studies provides statistical counselling for students and researchers at the Faculty of Medicine.

Examples regarding the counselling topics:

· Research - you need advice regarding your advanced thesis / pro-graduate thesis or for a scientific publication. 

· Statistical software - compiling different data sets, filtering data, forming new variables, descriptive statistics, and graphical presentation or performing a certain statistical analysis with a given software

· Northern Finland Birth Cohort Data sets

Statistical counselling is available on Wednesdays at 15.00-16.00 in IT room KT285 (Aapistie 5B). Pre-registration is not required, but the helpdesk will be closed at 15.15 if there are no participants.

A limited number of personal counselling hours are available. Reservations can be made via the appointment calendar available from Northern Finland Birth Cohorts and Arctic Biobank | University of Oulu. Make the reservation at least 24 hours before the appointment. The same applies to cancellations.
