Soluviljelijöiden kokous ke 28.1. CRC:n kahvihuone
1. Keskusteltiin suuremman soluviljelylabran (341B) tilan puutteesta. Tällä hetkellä tilanne oli rauhallisempi, mutta odotettavissa on ruuhkaa kun useamman tutkimusryhmän soluviljelyt käynnistyvät vuoden alun jälkeen. Vapaata työskentelyaikaa laminaareihin on haasteellista löytää päiväsaikaan etenkin ma, ke ja pe jotka ovat soluviljelyn kannalta olennaisimmat päivät. Pohdimme, kuinka järjestellä ryhmien jakoa eri soluviljelytiloihin niin, että kaikki mahtuisivat joustavasti työajan puitteissa viljelemään soluja. Viereisessä, pienemmässä 342B labrassa, on vähän säilytystilaa eikä sen laajentamiseen ole saatu lupaa, joten ryhmän siirtyminen kokonaan tavaroineen päivineen ei sinne onnistu. Sujuvan työskentelyn takaamiseksi soluviljelijöiden kannattaa tiedottaa toisia tilassa työskenteleviä, jos on tulossa aikaa vieviä kokeita kiireisimmille päiville tai paljon tilaa vieviä kasvatuksia hiilidioksidikaappeihin jotta eri tutkimusryhmien kokeita voidaan aikatauluttaa limittäin. Sen lisäksi voi käyttää viereisen laboratorion laminaaria ja hiilidioksidikaappia tarpeen mukaan. 2. Mainittiin lyhyesti uuden hiilidioksidikaapin tarpeesta. Sellainen saataisiin mahtumaan tilan ja hiilidioksidiliittymän puolesta, jos tarvittava rahoitus järjestyisi. 3. Nestetyppitankkien inventaario on vielä osalla ryhmistä kesken. Useimmilla ryhmillä tilaa on hyvin rajallisesti, parin laatikon verran. Lisätilaa ei tällä hetkellä ole tiedossa. Pohdittiin arkistointitankin mahdollisuutta CRC:n ulkopuolelle, mutta tällöin nestetypestä sekä mahdollisesta tilavuokrasta aiheutuviin kuluihin ei ole rahoitusta. 4. Kantasolulaboratorion eteistilaan on asennettu uusi mikroskooppi jonka verkkoyhteyttä kuvien siirtoa varten ei ole vielä saatu täysin toimimaan. Tarkempia tietoja voi kysyä Sallalta. 342B laboratorion mikroskooppi on lähetetty korjattavaksi. Väliaikaisesti soluja kuvataan viereisen labran 341B mikroskoopilla. 5. UV-lamppujen testaamiseen on Antti hankkinut testikortteja. 6. Uusien henkilöiden perehdytyksessä on tärkeää muistaa kertoa ampullien ”räjähdysherkkyydestä”, etenkin jos ne ehtivät lämmetä sekä suojavarusteiden käytöstä. Jos on tarpeen tutkia/etsiä näytteitä pidempään, tulee laatikko laittaa kuivajäille ja rack takaisin tankkiin. Yksi maskeista vietiin myös -70C:een pakastimien luo missä sitä voi käyttää poksahtelevien eppareiden (snap-frozen näytteet) suojana. 7. Mervi on tehnyt kiireisimmille näytteille mykoplasmatestin. Cell culture meeting on Wednesday, January 28, CRC coffee room 1. We discussed the lack of space in the larger cell culture lab (341B). The situation is currently calmer, but it is expected to get busier when several research groups start their cell cultures after the beginning of the year. It is challenging to find free working time in the laminar hoods during the day, especially on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, which are the most important days for cell culture. We discussed how to organize the distribution of groups to different cell culture facilities so that everyone could flexibly cultivate cells within their working hours. The adjacent, smaller 342B lab has little storage space and permission has not been granted to expand it, so it is not possible for the group to move there with all their equipment. To ensure smooth work, one should inform others if time-consuming experiments are coming up on the busiest days or if space-consuming cultures are coming to the incubators so that the experiments of different research groups can be scheduled to overlap. In addition, the laminars and incubators in the adjacent laboratory can be used as needed. 2. The need for a new carbon dioxide incubator was briefly mentioned. Such a cabinet could be accommodated in terms of space and carbon dioxide connection if the necessary funding could be arranged. 3. Some groups have yet to complete their inventory of liquid tanks. Most groups have very limited space, only a couple of boxes. No additional space is currently available. The possibility of an archiving tank outside the CRC was considered, but there is no funding for the costs of liquid nitrogen and possible storage space. 4. A new microscope has been installed in the entry room of the stem cell laboratory, but the network connection for transferring images is not yet fully functional. For more information, please contact Salla. The microscope in laboratory 342B has been sent for repair. In the meantime, cells can be imaged using the microscope in the adjacent laboratory 341B. 5. Antti has purchased test cards for testing UV lamps. 6. When training new personnel, it is important to remember to inform them about the "explosive nature" of the ampoules, especially if they have had time to warm up, and about the use of protective masks. If it is necessary to examine/search for samples for a longer period of time, the box should be placed on dry ice and the rack back to the tank. One of the masks was also taken to the -70°C freezers, where it can be used to protect from “explosive” snap-frozen samples. 7. Mervi has performed a mycoplasma test on the most urgent samples. All of them were negative. 8. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 9 o’clock in the CRC coffee room.
