Horizon Europe thematic calls 2025 and support activities
Horizon Europe Work Programme drafts for 2025 available
Research and support services have collected all Horizon Europe (HE) WP 2025 drafts for pillar II thematic calls (clusters 1 to 6) and a summary of the calls, and they can now be accessed via a Teams site dedicated to all support material for Horizon Europe consortium projects calls. Most of the calls open in May and have a deadline in September 2025. Since the currently available work programme is only a draft, make sure always to check the final call text as soon as they are available in the Funding & Tenders portal.
Renewed Support Process
Our support process aims to assist Horizon Europe consortium coordinators as much as posisble. We offer two tiers of support: full support and a lighter version. Full support includes finding the right call and conducting call analysis, providing training and tools, organizing three joint finalising sessions (1.5 days), offering grant writing services, and holding workshops on objectives, results, KPIs, and impact. It also includes weekly coordination team meetings, participation in selected consortium meetings upon request, providing graphic design resources for proposal finalisation, and an external proposal review by a HE consultant (subject to the availability of strategic funds).
The light support tier can include, depending on coordinator’s needs and level of experience, general guidance, support with the Funding & Tenders portal, call analysis, training and tools, and workshops for ideation/conceptualisation, objectives matching, or impact. It can also include external consultant’s comments (subject to the availability of strategic funds and preparation progress).
Schedule
Almost all Pillar II thematic calls open in May 2025, with deadlines in September 2025. Drafts are available now (get a summary in Teams herehttps://unioulu.sharepoint.com/:x:/r/sites/HorizonEuropeConsortiumprojectPillarIIsupport/Shared%20Documents/General/HE%20WP2025%20Clusters%201%20to%206%20and%20missions%20draft%20summaries.xlsx?d=wcca1564a0a8947659403d58e00f460be&csf=1&web=1&e=YiNm6z). Identification of suitable calls and core partners should start immediately. The registration for full support has a deadline of March 7, 2025. Meetings with applicants will start in March 2025, and the support process will begin in April 2025. Faculties' EU Strategy Grant
Faculties will now receive a grant from strategic funds to ensure active participation in international research activities and EU influencing. The grant amount is €10,000/year for the period 2025–2028. The money is primarily meant to support proposal preparations for Horizon Europe thematic applications (Pillar II calls, European Innovation Council calls and MSCA Doctoral Networks calls) as a coordinator. The grant can be used for the salary of the coordinator or a researcher assisting them, for trips such as planning meetings or partner search events, or for external consulting.
Participation in new EU partnerships can also be supported. The grant can be used for membership fees of new EU partnerships or for trips related to new EU partnerships. After the strategy grant period, the membership fees of the partnerships should be paid by the faculties/units. Please contact your faculty’s management for more information.
