Remote work continues at the University of Oulu
The University of Oulu has updated the Corona instructions on August 10, 2020. The remote work recommendation will continue for now in all those
tasks where it is possible. During the exceptional situation, remote work can be flexibly agreed with superiors, and working at the university premises does not require a separate authorization procedure. In laboratories, it is important to pay attention to
safety issues, distances, and number of persons.
In autumn, the first study period between August 1 and October 25, 2020 is organised mainly remotely. The orientation for new students will happen in small
groups on campuses. Decisions about the second period will be made in August.
When necessary, teaching can be arranged on campuses by taking into account the safety and distance instructions. Exams can be organised on campuses and
in E-exam rooms when safety instructions are taken into consideration.
Meetings will be organised mostly in Zoom and Teams environments, but when necessary, it is possible to have meetings also on campuses.
Work-related travel within Finland will only be possible if it is unavoidable. As a rule, travel abroad is not possible. In student-exchange issues university
follows the travel instructions of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Follow the safety instructions when visiting campuses
Every person working in the university facilities must follow public safety guidelines, spatial risk assessments guidelines and other regulations issued
by the employer. Do not enter the workplace if you have suitable symptoms or if you suspect infection.
In all situations, the distance between persons must be at least 1–2 meters. Everyone should take care of regular and careful hand hygiene. Handshakes can
be replaced by other ways of greeting.
If you suspect a coronavirus infection, contact the counseling number in the city of Oulu or your own medical centre. Act according to the instructions
you get from health care. For emergencies, call 112. For more detailed instructions and contact information, see
the City of Oulu's corona page.
As a rule, people in the risk group work remotely. If remote work is not possible and the occupational health practitioner has confirmed an at-risk status,
the employee must use either a surgical mask or FFP mask and possible other protective equipment at the workplace. The occupational health doctor will prescribe the necessary protective equipment and will give instructions.
The doors are open on weekdays 8.00–15.45
From August 11 onwards the doors of the campuses are open at 8.00–15.45. At other times, staff members and students can access campuses with their access
cards. Responsible and careful following of hygiene instructions is required of every visitor. Safety distance of 1–2 metres must be kept. You must not enter the campus if you have any symptoms of coronavirus infection.
Guests can be welcomed with special care and taking care of safety and distances. However, it is not currently possible to visit the University of Oulu
from countries that are on the Ministry for Foreign Affairs travel restriction list.
Campus services monitor the situation and instruct visitors on campuses if necessary.
If the situation changes, the university will make a new risk assessment.
