Dear Principal Investigators,
Is your health-related research area missing from EU funding calls and work programmes? Now is the time to speak up and let us know. We are collecting nationally important health research themes that should be included in future EU work programmes.
This is a joint effort with Finnish Universities and research organizations who operate in health research. The questionnaire can be freely shared in order to reach Finnish researchers as widely as possible to collect input for the important missing themes.
The renewal of research themes in Cluster 1 Health work programmes has not progressed since the start of Horizon Europe in 2021. There is a need to start advancing and advocating for relevant topics to future work programmes and creating a joint vision for FP10.
For example, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) were absent from EU funding calls for many years, despite being a leading cause of death in Europe. This gap has recently been addressed with the publication of the EU CVD plan. However, there are likely other major health topics that remain overlooked.
Please take a few minutes to complete the Webropol questionnaire below-it will require no more than 5 minutes of your time. Please submit your proposal by January 31st 2026. https://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/6AF94D10EB64DAA5
We apologize if you receive this request from multiple sources; we are working to spread this effort as widely as possible across Finland through various channels. This call is intended for principal investigators who lead their own research groups.
Please note that while we cannot guarantee your theme will be advanced, our goal is to identify a few large, missing areas that can be prioritized and pushed forward in EU work programmes.
The aim is to help shape EU work programmes so that they reflect Finland's health research needs and ultimately increasing the likelihood of future EU funding.
Thank you for your time and input!
