On 19^thof March 14:00-15:00 in Leena Palotie auditorium (101A) Dr. Yoshitaka Fujihara from Osaka (Japan) will give a lecture with a title:

Analysis of mouse models of male infertility using genetic modification

Short introduction:

Dr. Yoshitaka Fujihara is head of the Laboratory of Developmental Biotechnology at the Department of Bioscience and Genetics at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Osaka.

Dr. Y. Fujihara has got his PhD in while working with Prof. Masaru Okabe’s lab at RIMD, Osaka University. He has used X-linked EGFP transgenic mice to identify X-linked genes Rhox5/Pem and Fthl17.

After receiving a PhD degree in 2010, he has created over 30 gene-KO animals in three years and identified many genes essential for fertility such as SPESP1, SPACA1, and PMIS2.

Dr. Fujihara has made an observation that in many cases infertility phenotypes were due to ADAM3 abrogation. Then studding GPI-anchored proteins he has found that TEX101 interacts with ADAM3 and regulates the sperm migrating ability into the oviduct.
