Dear Researcher

please note the NordForsk Call on Societal Security Beyond COVID-19 with the DL 08.06.2022.

The Nordic Societal Security Programme is a multidisciplinary research programme that aims to develop new knowledge about and solutions for the many aspects of societal security affecting the Nordic countries. Societal security comprises the ability of a society to sustain vital societal functions and secure individual life, health, needs and basic values under extraordinary stresses, known as crises.

The research project must include partners in at least three Nordic countries. Nordic countries are defined here as Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland Islands.

The host institution (Project Owner) for the research project must be a research performing organisation based in one of the countries co-funding the call: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden.

The overarching theme of the call is to explore the medium to long-term consequences beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Available budget is approx. 45 million NOK.

NordForsk: Call on Societal Security Beyond COVID-19

14.3.2022 14:55:05 | Suomen Akatemia

The overarching theme of the call is to explore the medium to long-term consequences beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Available budget is approx. 45 million NOK.

Projects in this call can address the medium to long-term effects for individuals and groups, for Nordic societies, and for the Nordic community, of the COVID-19 pandemic within the thematic framework of the call. Emphasis is placed on linking research and practice, and the involvement of various types of end users is encouraged to help strengthen the knowledge base for practice and for research-informed policy.

The overarching theme of the call is to explore the medium to long-term consequences beyond the COVID-19 pandemic as they relate to societal security and the notion of a Nordic community, and how the Nordic countries can evolve together – or not together – for the future.

The different policies and practices applied in the Nordic countries will provide opportunities for fruitful comparative approaches. Projects may take advantage of the “natural experiment” aspects of intra-Nordic differences in responses and effects along various dimensions of societal security.

Call deadline: 08.06.2022
