The European Research Council (ERC) funds excellent science through its annual Starting, Consolidator, Advanced and Synergy Grants. The different ERC grants suit researchers at different stages of their research careers.

The application deadlines for these grants are as follows:
ERC Synergy Grant (ERC-SYG-2025): open until 6.11.2024
ERC Consolidator Grant (ERC-COG-2025): 26.9.2024–14.1.2025
ERC Synergy Grant can be awarded up to a maximum of EUR 10 million for a period of 6 years. ERC SYG is awarded to a group of two to a maximum of four Principal Investigators (PIs) working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems. ERC Consolidator Grant can be awarded for a maximum of €2 million over 5 years. Researchers of any nationality with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal can apply. The University of Oulu wants to support researchers in applying for ERC funding and offers a support process to help applicants prepare for their ERC applications. The support process includes annotated application forms and a budget template, regular meetings to support the planning and writing of the application, application commenting, online application training, a writing retreat and graphic design support. For some applicants, we also offer an external ERC consultancy review to help the applicant refine the application further before submission. We can also provide targeted consultancy services for applicants who are in the process of resubmitting their applications.

Näillä rahoituksilla on seuraavat hakuajat:

ERC Synergy Grant voidaan myöntään maksimissaan 10 miljoonan euron suuruisena 6 vuoden ajaksi. ERC SYG on myönnetään 2–4 johtavan tutkijan ryhmälle, joka työskentelee yhdessä ja tuo mukanaan erilaisia taitoja ja resursseja kunnianhimoisten tutkimusongelmien ratkaisemiseksi. ERC Consolidator Grant voidaan myöntää maksimissaan 2 miljoonan euroa suuruisena 5 vuoden ajaksi. Hakijoina voivat olla mitä tahansa kansallisuutta olevat tutkijat, joilla on kulunut 7-12 vuotta tohtorintutkinnon suorittamisesta, on lupaavia tieteellisiä saavutuksia ja erinomainen tutkimusehdotus. Oulun yliopisto haluaa tukea tutkijoita ERC-rahoitusten hakemisessa ja tarjoaa hakijoille tukiprosessin, jonka avulla hakijat voivat valmistautua ERC-hakuihinsa mahdollisimman hyvin. Tukiprosessi tarjoaa mm. annotoidut hakulomakkeet ja budjettipohjan, säännöllisiä tapaamisia hakemuksen suunnittelun ja kirjoittamisen tueksi, hakemuksen kommentointia, online-hakukoulutuksen, kirjoitusretriitin ja graafista suunnittelutukea. Joillekin hakijoille tarjoamme myös ulkopuolisen ERC-konsulttiyrityksen arvioinnin, joka autta hakijaa hiomaan hakemusta edelleen ennen sen jättämistä. Voimme myös tarjota kohdennettuja konsulttipalveluja hakijoille, jotka ovat jättämässä uusintahakemuksen.
