Western-blotting is the gold standard and the most commonly used technique for the specific detection of proteins. It enables the determination of the abundance of a specific protein as well as post-translational modifications with high level of confidence and sensitivity. The method represents a confirmatory test for multiple upstream higher throughput assays, one of which (Alpha SureFire) will be discussed during the webinar.
