Emil Aaltosen Säätiön apurahat ovat haettavina 15.1.–15.2.2025 välisenä aikana suomenkielisten tutkijoiden luovan tieteellisen työn tukemiseen. Haku koskee kaikkia tieteenaloja. Säätiö tulee haun perusteella myöntämään apurahoja yhteensä noin seitsemän miljoonaa euroa. Apurahojen hakijana voi olla yksityinen tutkija. Erityisesti pyritään tukemaan väitöskirjatyötä tekeviä tutkijoita ja vastavalmistuneita tohtoreita heidän jatkotutkimustyössään. Apurahavaihtoehtoja ovat kokovuotiset työskentelyapurahat (12 kuukaudeksi väitöskirjatutkimukseen 34 000 € ja post doc -tutkimukseen 37 000 € /40 000 €), osavuotiset työskentelyapurahat (4–10 kuukaudeksi 9 700– 29 300 €), kannustusapurahat (5 000 €) ja kohdeapurahat (enintään 5 000 €). Kolmivuotisten projektiapurahojen (200 000 €) tarkoituksena on tukea itsenäisen uransa alkuvaiheissa ja omaa tutkimusryhmää perustamassa olevia tutkijoita.

The grants by the Emil Aaltonen Foundation are open from 15.1.-15.2.2025 to support the creative scientific work of Finnish-speaking researchers. The call is open to all disciplines. The Foundation will award grants totalling approximately €7 million. Applicants for grants may be private researchers. Particular attention will be paid to supporting doctoral researchers and recent doctoral graduates in their post-doctoral research. Grants are available in the form of full-year working grants (€34 000 for 12 months for doctoral research and €37 000/€40 000 for post-doctoral research), part-year working grants (€9 700-€29 300 for 4-10 months), incentive grants (€5 000) and target grants (up to €5 000). Three-year project grants (€200 000) are intended to support researchers in the early stages of their independent careers and those setting up their own research teams.

For applicants, whose native language is not Finnish, it is possible to grant an award if the applicant is working in what is effectively a Finnish-speaking research community (a Finnish-speaking university or research institute) and is well integrated into it. Such applicants could be expected to master the Finnish language well enough to operate in Finnish and to communicate in the language with others in the research community. Generally the applicant would be expected to be living in Finland permanently.
