On Friday October 7 at 9.15-10 in F101 a Kontinkangas Research Seminar by Professor Pirjo Nuutila from Turku PET Centre, Department of Endocrinology, Turku University Hospital and University of Turku. The title of her presentation is “Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) in adult humans – what is learned since 2009?”

Information about prof. Pirjo Nuutila´s research:

In 2009 the work of professor Pirjo Nuutila and associate professor Kirsi Virtanen resulted discovery of brown fat and its role in metabolism. The article published on this discovery is one of the most widely read in the field, with more than 2,000 citations, and the discovery has spawned an entire field dedicated to understanding the role of brown fat in health.
