Enhanced Support for coordinating Horizon Europe proposals – Pilot
UOulu has launched a pilot project to offer enhanced support for researchers aiming to coordinate a Horizon Europe (HEU) consortium project. If you are interested in coordinating a Horizon Europe consortium project but need extra hands, read this. The enhanced support is directed mainly at pre-selected Research and Innovation Action (RIA) calls opening in 2021, but you can also suggest a call of your choice. The support includes two part-time resources from research and project support services (faculty’s research funding specialist and HEU specialist) who will help in building the consortium, take care of all the administrative work (organise meetings, divide and schedule tasks, collect inputs from partners and deliver certain parts of application as well take care of the electric forms etc.) and review and comment the application.
More information on the services can be found in herehttps://patio.oulu.fi/en/media/2689/download.
In addition, approximately three months’ salary for a researcher (either for the consortium leader or to a researcher assisting the leader) is being paid. Two pilot projects will be started this year and the selected participants will be chosen among the interested based on the following criteria: The suitability of the research idea to the selected call, strengths of the potential partners, previous experience from consortium projects (not necessarily from EU projects) and finally and most importantly motivation and commitment of the consortium leader. The final selection will be done by the rectors.
The Work Programme for 2021-2022 is currently being drafted and the first calls are expected to open in April with deadlines in the late summer 2021. Please note that the call contents are subject to change and that the deadlines have not yet been confirmed.
Based on the drafts, nine calls have been identified as especially relevant for UOulu’s strategy.
* HORIZON-HLTH-2021-ENVHLTH-02-01: Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) and health (Full draft here -link) * HORIZON-HLTH-STAYHLTH-2021-01-01: Prevention of obesity through the life course (Full draft here) * HORIZON-CL2-2021-TRANSFORMATIONS-01-05: Integration of emerging new technologies into education and training (Full draft here) * HORIZON-CL2-2021-HERITAGE-01-03: Cultural and creative industries as a driver of innovation and competitiveness (Full draft here) * HORIZON-CL4-2021-HUMAN-01-26: Workforce skills for industry 5.0 (Full draft here) * C5-D1-CSR-04-2021: Modelling the role of the circular economy for climate change mitigation (Full draft here) * C5-D1-CSR-15-2021: Restoration and conservation of natural wetlands, peatlands and floodplains as a strategy for fast carbon sequestration; pathways, trade-offs and co-benefits (Full draft here) * C5-D3-RES-01-2021: AU-EU Water Energy Food Nexus (Full draft here) * HORIZON-CL6-GEO-2021-00-00: User-oriented solutions building on environmental observation to monitor critical ecosystems and biodiversity loss and vulnerability in the European Union (Full draft here)
The drafts of the above listed calls are available herehttps://patio.oulu.fi/en/media/2688/download.
Should you not find a suitable call among these, you can also suggest another call from the work programme (drafts available upon request from your faculty’s research funding specialist). The call should fulfill the following criteria:
* Open in 2021 * Match with UOulu’s profiling areas * Possibility of involving more than one discipline from UOulu * Funding scheme: RIA (not IA or CSA) * Preferably requires participation of SSH (Social Sciences and Humanities)
