Today on Thursday!

Subject: Kontinkangas Research Seminar March 13, 15.15-16 in F202

Dear all,

this week on Thursday March13, 15.15-16 in F202 there will be a seminar by Associate Professor Daniela Ungureanu from Research Unit of Disease networks, Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of Oulu.  The title of the seminar is:  Single-cell transcriptomics of drug resistance in cancer and beyond.

Dr. Ungureanu´s  research focuses on single-cell omics of drug-treated cells to establish a core pharmacotranscriptomics pipeline to uncover drug-responses in cancer cells and its technological applications.

More about Dr. Ungureanu´s research:

“My research focuses on understanding the signaling networks controlled by receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) during normal and aberrant cell growth such cancer. My goal is to assess the signaling pathways employed by Wnt-ligands binding RTKs in cancers and implement our research tools to determine to what extent targeting these molecules (alone or in combination) will improve cancer therapy.

We are working with patient-derived tumor cells and perform molecular profiling such as assessments of cell growth in 2D and 3D, ex-vivo high throughput drug-responses analysis and transcriptomic profiling at the single cell level. This detailed information will help us to understand why/how these cancer cells respond differently to the various treatments, which could significantly improve cancer therapy in the future.” .
