Head of the research team at the WHO collaborating centre at KI. The research is translational (experimental, clinical trials and implementation;  “from bench-to bed-to the hands of women” with focus on endometrial function, embryo implantation, induced abortion, emergency contraception and development of new contraceptive technology with direct clinical impact on obstetrics (current large trial on labor induction) as well as for gynaecological cancer treatment but especially focusing on reproductive medicine and Global Reproductive Health. The research team at the WHOcc innovated medical abortion and has contributed to the further development of the method including Post Abortion Care as well as the development of Emergency contraception and development of Medical abortion provided by telemedicine by Women on Web. Numerous PhD students and clinicians have received their training at the WHOcentre.
