Subject: For users: BCO light microscopy fees

Dear BCO light microscopy core facility user,

Microscope usage hours will be subjected to a charge from the beginning of 2014. User fees are collected from January 2014 onwards due to changes in the core facility funding policy. User fees will be used to maintain and repair the core facility imaging instruments.

Microscope-specific prices, updated user policy and instructions can be found from the core facility website ( http://www.oulu.fi/biocenter/lm/user-policy ). Prices are determined by the maintenance costs of the individual instruments.  There will be a maximum expense limit of 4000€ / year / research group. Hours exceeding that limit will not be charged. In addition, hours from 0.00 to 8.00, user training, usage of imaging/image analysis software and cell culture space will remain free of charge.

Please note that it is not allowed to use any microscope without a reservation, as the usage will be charged according to the actual usage hours marked to Asimov. After the microscopy session, a user has to log in to Asimov and confirm the fulfilled usage time. Accumulated bills will be sent out to research groups annually at the end of the year. Please confirm that your affiliation is correct in the reservation system, so the invoices are addressed to the correct research group. Before starting your experiments, discuss with your group leader about the user fees, and confirm that they agree to pay the forming expenses.
