Dear researchers planning to apply for ERC grant,
The Finnish ERC NCPs have informed that they will organize another ERC Proposal Reading Day, please see the message below:
Due to the popularity of the ERC Proposal Reading Day we are organizing another ERC Proposal Reading Day with the same site (Hakaniemenkatu 2, Helsinki) on Monday 11.9.2023. Again, we have two 3-hour sessions: one at 9-12 and another at 13-16. We wanted to give those on the waiting list an early chance to sign up for this event; they were informed about the second Reading Day already yesterday. Nevertheless, around 40 places out of the 60 are still available.
Please disseminate information about the second Reading Day on Monday 11 September. The registration is open and the registration link is https://www.lyyti.fi/reg/ERC_Proposal_Reading_Day_119_6974
Please note that due to the limited number of participants one is supposed to attend only one 3-hour session, either on Monday 4.9.2023 or on Monday 11.9.2023.
On the Reading Day applicants will get the opportunity to read successful ERC grant proposals in order to see how a proposal might be structured. About 30 ERC-grantees from Finnish Host Institutions have given their kind consent to make their proposal available for the reading day.
* This is an on-site event, organized at the Research Council of Finland (former: Academy of Finland) premises, Hakaniemenkatu 2, Helsinki. * The ERC Proposal Reading Day will be open only for researchers from Finnish Host Institutions. If there are vacant places available after the registration deadline, we will inform the Research Services about their possibility to attend. * The proposals are available as paper copies on the Proposal Reading Day. One can preselect up to two proposals. This is done in the registration form. Subject to availability, it will be possible to read copies of other applications during the Reading Day. * Attendance only by registration which is binding. If one signs up, but cannot attend after all, one is requested to deregister before the registration deadline. * The participants must sign Declaration of Secrecy (attached). * Photocopying or taking photos of the applications is not allowed. * Applications cannot be taken out of the reading room. * This is a quiet individual reading session. It does not include tutorials about the ERC. To participate one should be familiar with the ERC grant schemes, as well as the conditions for participation listed here.
We hope this new event will be successful and beneficial for the applicants in which case we will consider arranging it for the second time.
Kind regards,
