UV-crosslinker

Hi, The department has allocated some money for buying a UV-crosslinker to genetics. If you have some suggestions regarding the model or some special applications that need a certain type of model, let me know within a couple of days. In general, it can be used for eliminating PCR contamination, crosslinking DNA and RNA, nicking ethidium-bromide-stained DNA, gene mapping, RecA mutation screening and testing, UV sterilization, UV-induced polymerization etc. Here is a model that we could possibly afford: http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/search/ProductDetail/SIGMA/Z375381 Picture of the linker is attached. Hei kakkoskerroksen kylmähuone on aika siivoton. Hyllytkin ovat osin vajaakäytöllä ja lattialla tavaraa. Hyllyjä on esim. varattu nimillä Hoikkala (jotka minä olen perinyt, mutta en tarvitse niin montaa, kait) ja Alatossava. Tehtäisiinkö asialle jotain? Ehdotan, että ne joita asia koskee (on jo tavaraa siellä tai tarvitsee sieltä tilaa) ottavat minuun yhteyttä, niin organisoidaan suuri kylmähuonepäivä. hei, laitehankintatoivomuslista pitää saada tehdyksi ensi viikon loppuun mennessä. Miettikää omalta osaltanne toivomuksia hinta-arvioineen ja lyhyine perusteluineen, ja lähettäkää minulle sähköpostitse, niin teen yhteisen listan. Meeri selvittelee myrkytöntä agaroosigeelielektroforeesiä, Soile PCR-laitteita (Master-Cycler ja nopea PCR), ja vanhasta listasta on jäänyt levykepesuri, jäähilekone, autoklaavi ja 2-puoleinen mustavalkoprintteri. Kokoonnutaan ensi viikon torstaina (25.10.) klo 12.15 PT302:een miettimään toivomuksia ja niiden prioriteettejä. Olen poissa ma-ke. t. 11th Kaamos-Symposium 10.12.-11.12.2007

Hei everybody! This year's 11th Kaamos-Symposium, organised by the Department of Biology, will be held on Monday, 10.12. and Tuesday 11.12.2007 at the University of Oulu, lecture hall YB210. As in the previous symposia our goal is to cover all areas of research conducted at the Department of Biology in Oulu and connected institutions. But we are dependent on your help and participation. The Kaamos-Symposium should give especially graduate and under-graduate students the opportunity to present their research. Therefore we want to encourage all PhD and Master students as well as supervisors to motivate their students, who would like to present their projects at this symposium. The Kaamos-Symposium is a great possibility to show your data and results to your friends and colleagues. Furthermore it is one of the rare occasions to train presenting your research in a known and friendly environment. So, take advantage of this great opportunity, please! We have funding to pay the traveling costs for people outside of Oulu. Students who are not living in Oulu and would like to have a presentation can ask for travelling grants by contacting the organising-committee. Students, both Master students and PhD students, who give a presentation and participate in the whole symposium will get 2 study weeks (4 study points). If you just participate in the whole symposium and either present a poster or write a summary of one talk, then you will get 1 study week (2 study points). Presentations should be 15 minutes, plus 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Registration deadline for presentations and posters is the 31st of October. Abstracts should be ready and send to us by the 30th of November. There will be a poster session as well. All researchers from the department are welcome to show their posters from latest conferences at the poster session on Tuesday, 11.12. just after the last presentation. The poster session will lead smoothly over to the symposium party, where coffee, snacks and refreshments will be served. Another good possibility to talk and get to know everybody, as last year's participants can report. Everybody is very welcome to listen to the presentations and to the poster session! If you are interested in presenting or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us! Aktiivikäyttäjät voisivat poistaa palvelimelta tarpeetonta tietoa. Jos palvelimella olevat tiedot saa puristettua alle 100 gigan, niin loput voidaan siirtää suoraan uudelle palvelimelle.
