Dear colleagues,
it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in a national molecular ecology and evolution symposium, to be held near Turku from Wed Oct 8 - Fri Oct 10 2014. The aim of this symposium is to bring together Finland-based researchers with an interest in molecular ecology and molecular evolution for the first time ever, with a view to ‘kick starting’ a more regular meeting routine as a part of the newly established Oikos Finland Society bi-annual meetings in the future. This event has the support of the Oikos Finland board.
The symposium is open to all Finland-based researchers with an interest in the fields of molecular ecology and molecular evolution. It is anticipated this will include ecologists interested in applying molecular methods as a tool in their research, as well as more molecular oriented researchers studying e.g. gene function in an ecological/evolutionary context. The symposium will consist primarily of 20-30 min oral presentations as well as posters. Funding is being applied for to cover at least part of the costs, but a small registration fee and/or travel costs may need to be covered by participants.
At this stage, we are looking to get an idea of how many people may be interested in attending the symposium, so it will be a great help if you could fill in the (non-binding) pre-registration form by March 15. It is available at
https://www.webropolsurveys.com/S/E1E6812E686D2CBE.par
This will help us make sure we book an appropriate venue, and it will put you on the mailing list for future updates about the symposium. Formal registration will start during the summer.
Also, please forward this information to any relevant mailing lists and/or researchers who may be interested in attending
All the best
Craig
PS- offers to assist with organising the meeting will be gratefully accepted!
