Aihe: cDNA Microarrays - A Practical Course
cDNA Microarrays - A Practical Course I 27.-29. January 2004 II 24.-26. February 2004
This is a practical course in the use of cDNA microarray techniques. During this two-day intensive course, students learn to use human sequence DNA microarrays to study their RNA samples. The course covers labeling, hybridization, and analysis. Several lectures on different aspects of microarray technology are also given.
Course instructors: Staff of the Finnish DNA Microarray Centre, Turku Centre for Biotechnology
Participation: Enrollment fee is 250 . Attendance is worth 1 study week.
Applicants: The courses are open to researchers and to students enrolled in schools in the Finnish Graduate School Network in Life Sciences (Helsinki, Joensuu, Kuopio, Oulu, Tampere, Turku).
To apply, please send a brief letter stating your affiliation and department, project description, and justification for taking the course. If you are a student, please indicate also your year of study. The applications can be also written in Finnish. Students should have a gel picture of both the control and the sample RNAs that they want to study. Both RNAs should be of high quality. The amount of the total RNA should be 20 micrograms for each specimen in a maximum volume of 10 microliters H2O. For the RNA isolation we use Trizol Reagent (Life Technologies, Gibco BRL) and Qiagen RNeasy Kit (Qiagen). If you do not have your own sample, please inform us, as we may be able to provide a sample for you.
Send applications via email to: Minttu Hannonen, minttu.hannonen@btk.utu.fi
The application deadline is 7.1.04 (I)/ 4.2.04 (II) Applicants will be notified of their admission by 9.1.03 (I) / 6.2.04 (II) Space is limited to 10 participants/course. Course location: Turku Centre for Biotechnology, BioCity, Tykistökatu 6, Turku Organized by: Finnish DNA Microarray Centre, Turku Centre for Biotechnology
