Hei! Alla on Atlaksen Mirko Honkavaaran maili Histoni ry ja Atlas ry yhteisestä Turku excusta. Lisättäköön tuohon, että Turussa tapaamme myös paikallisia kemian ja biokemian opiskelijoita. This trip will take place 17.-19.10. During this trip we will visit the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant and meet geography students from the University of Turku. We'll leave on Thursday 17th October very early (about 2 AM maybe). We'll be in Olkiluoto sometime in the morning. After that we will hang out in Turku and leave for Oulu sometime during the Friday-Saturday night. There will be room for 25 geographers and 25 biochemists. In English below Hei! Alkavalla viikolla tapahtuu ja paljon. Histonin puolelta tulevat seuraavat tapahtumat: ma 16.9. Killan kokous kiltahuoneella klo 16.30 (Valitaan vpj, 1-2 toimetonta hallituksen jäsentä ja toimareita syyskaudeksi!) to 19.9. Lautapeli-ilta kiltahuoneella klo 16.00 alkaen (Voit tuoda myös omia lautapelejäsi!) su 22.9. OLuT:n jalkapalloturnaus klo 12-17 Normaalikoulun urheilukentillä (Histonin joukkueeseen voit ilmoittautua maanantaista alkaen kiltahuoneella, keltaisen kaapiin ovessa olevaan listaan!!!) Muista myös käydä kannustamassa fukseja Histonin rastilla tiistaina (17.9.) OLuT:n fuksisuunnistuksen aikana. Sillä perinteisellä sisäpihan paikalla. Here's a list of Histoni events: Mon 16.9. The meeting of the guild at guild room at 16.30 (Election of vice head of the board for the autumn term, etc.) Thu 19.9. Boardgame night at guild room starting at 16.00 (Feel free to bring your own board games with you!) Sun 22.9. Football tournament starting at 12.00 at the sport fields of Normaalikoulu (You can join the Histoni team by signing up at the guild room. The signing up is done by writing down your name at the list in the door of yellow cabinet at guild room.) Also, if you want to see how freshmen orienteering is done, please visit the checkpoint of Histoni in the frehmen orienteering of all Sciences on Tuesday. The checkpoint should be located around the inner yard closest to L1 lecture hall. The orienteering takes place between 14.30. and 18.30., time-wise. The research project is funded by the Academy of Finland. The project of the PhD student will focus on the factors behind the mitochondrial biogenesis (translation and assembly of OXPHOS complexes) and the goal is to identify novel pathogenic mechanisms behind mitochondrial disorders of childhood. The student will apply for admission to the University of Oulu Graduate School at the beginning of the project and the aim is to complete the PhD thesis within four years. The project is part of a research consortium studying pediatric mitochondrial disorders in Northern Finland initiated and led by Adjunct Professor Johanna Uusimaa, MD, PhD. The successful candidate should preferably have Master’s degree in biochemistry or biology. Some experience in mammalian cell culture and in basic cell and molecular biology techniques is appreciated. Duration of the fixed-term contract is, at first, one year (including a trial period of 3 months), but it can be continued. The salary will be based on level 2 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities, supplemented by personal work performance up to 46.3% of the job demands level (range from 1944,69 to 2845,08 € per month). The post holder will be appointed under a full employment contract and the employment policy guidelines of the University of Oulu for teaching and research personnel are followed.
