Senior Scientist, Postdoctoral Fellow and PhD Student positions at the Danish Cancer Society Research Centre (DCRC) The Cell Death and Metabolism Unit at the Danish Cancer Society Research Centre (DCRC) invites applications for senior scientist, postdoctoral fellow and PhD Student positions in a dynamic, international and competitive environment. The positions are financed by a 5-year Advanced Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for the project entitled “Lysosomes as Targets for Cancer Therapy”. This research programme aims to reveal how cells maintain the integrity of lysosomal membranes and to identify drug targets and drugs that induce lysosomal membrane permeabilization specifically in cancer cells. Senior Scientist We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated PhD or equivalent with ample postdoctoral experience and a strong publication record in one or more of the following areas of research: * Lysosomes * Lipids and Membranes * Ion Channels * Medicinal Chemistry * Cell Death Pathways Your qualifications will be assessed by an evaluation committee consisting of an overweight of external scientists. Qualified candidates will be invited for an interview with an appointments committee composed by the Head of the Unit. Postdoctoral Fellow We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a recent PhD degree in natural or life sciences or equivalent and broad experience in molecular and cell biology. Expertise in cancer research or research areas listed above will be an advantage. PhD Student We are looking for a highly motivated PhD Student with an excellent recent MSc degree in life sciences, MD degree or equivalent. The student will be enrolled in a graduate Programme on Molecular Mechanisms of Disease (MoMeD) under the Copenhagen Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences. Tarjolla on koulutustoimikunnan opiskelijaedustajien paikkoja jokaisessa yhdeksässä tiedekunnassa, joten ihan jokaiselle yliopistomme opiskelijalle löytyy mahdollinen vaikuttamispaikka. Koulutustoimikuntiin valitaan aina vähintään kaksi opiskelijaedustajaa, joten et jää yksin luottamustehtävän kanssa. Lisäksi ylioppilaskunta tarjoaa tehtävään koulutusta ja tukea koko kaksivuotisen kauden ajan. Koulutustoimikuntien tehtäviin kuuluu ohjata ja arvioida tiedekunnan tutkintoon johtavaa koulutusta sekä lisäksi vastata opiskelijapalautteen keruusta ja käsittelystä. Erityisesti jälkimmäisen tehtävän vuoksi koulutustoimikunnat ovat todella merkittävässä roolissa varmistamassa opiskelijapalautteen vaikuttavuutta! A PhD student position in organ development and regeneration A PhD student position is available in the field of developmental biology in a joint project of Docent Marja Mikkola and Prof. Irma Thesleff at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki. The project focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of organogenesis. The project utilizes molecular, cell, and developmental biology techniques and ex vivo and in vivo manipulation of developing mouse organs. We are seeking for talented and highly motivated candidates with Master’s degree in genetics, cell/molecular biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, developmental biology, or other appropriate field. Candidates who will receive their MSc degree in near future are also eligible to apply. Previous experience in animal work or in cell and tissue culture is considered advantageous. Good written and oral skills in English are a necessity. We are part of the recently elected Academy of Finland Center of Excellence in Experimental and Computational Developmental Biology (http://www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/evodevo/ECDev.html ). We offer an international, inspiring and supportive research environment and excellent research facilities with access to state-of-the art technologies. The first three years of the position are funded by Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation. Salary will be based on the University salary system for teaching and research personnel. [OAMK] World Cup of Kyykkä 2014

WCOK tulee jälleen! Oulun Akateeminen Mölökky- ja Kyykkäseura ry järjestää suuren suosion saavuttaneen World Cup of Kyykkä -turnauksen lauantaina 22.2.2014 Oulussa Linnanmaan kampusalueella. Kisapäivä alkaa aamuyhdeksältä ja päättyy alkusarjojen ja jatkopelien kautta lopulta finaaleihin noin klo 17. Finaalien jälkeen siirrytään yhteisille etkoille Kaijonharjuun Teekkaritalolle, jossa sauna lämpiää ja omat juomat ovat suotavia. Teekkaritalolta siirrytään myöhemmin illalla loppubileisiin, jossa palkitaan päivän parhaat menestyjät! Sarjoja kisoissa on kaksi: yleinen ja naiset, joista yleiseen sarjaan mahtuu 64 ja naisten sarjaan 16 joukkuetta. Osallistuminen maksaa molemmissa sarjoissa 35 euroa/joukkue. Joukkueen koko on tasan neljä (4) pelaajaa. Osallistumismaksu sisältää pelioikeuden, haalarimerkit, etkosaunan sekä liput loppubileisiin neljälle. Kyykkä on siitä hieno laji, että aikaisempi kokemus lajista ei ole edellytys hauskanpidolle tai menestymiselle! Pelaajia on perinteisesti ollut mukana aina kokeneemmista pelaajista uusiin tulokkaisiin.
