A graduate student position in the Immunoregulation group, BioMediTech, University of Tampere, Finland. We are looking for a new member to join our team that investigates how the Proprotein Convertase (PCSK) enzymes regulate the immune system (see for example; Nature. 2008 Sep 11;455(7210):246-50., J Immunol. 2014 Dec 1;193(11):5470-9., J Leukoc Biol. 2015 Jul;98(1):73-83.). We are hoping to recruit a person that is self-motivated, curious and interested in the mechanisms of immunity. Previous experience with cell culture, FACS and in vivo models is advantageous. New innovation course and innovation award

Dear all, I am pleased to announce that there will be the first Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine Innovation Award in March 2017. To support this (and other innovation linked activities) there will be a new FBMM course Biochemical and biomedical innovation (2/5 ECTS) starting next Monday (10th October). The course is open to all BSc, MSc and PhD students and is mainly given by people from innovation services, Tellus and Oulu Business School. It includes an introduction to IPR as well as workshops on creativity, patent searching and how to pitch your ideas. Sessions will be held late afternoon / early evening so that there are no timetable clashes for any BSc/MSc student. Participation in the seminars/workshops awards 2 ECTS, those participants who submit an innovation award entry or invention disclosure or university proof of concept funding or any other funding application which includes an innovation linked activity are eligible for 5 ECTS. There will be an additional feedback workshop for 5 ECTS participants as well as a pitching session in February for top submissions. If you are interested in attending the Biochemical and biomedical innovation course please sign up as soon as possible so we have some idea of numbers. Remember it starts next Monday. The Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine Innovation Award is open to any FBMM BSc or MSc student. It will grant the winner 5000 euro for proof of concept funding to take the work forward. It is open to individuals or teams and the terms and conditions are equivalent to the university proof of concept funding. PhD students are not eligible for this innovation award, but they can apply for the university proof of concept funding and the new course is designed to support such an application.
