Hei ihana haalarikansa! Kesä alkaa olla ohitse ja paluu koulunpenkeille häämöttää jo kiikareissa, joten sen kunniaksi OLuT ry järjestää perinteikkäät Kesäjuhlat 27.8 klo 21.30 eteenpäin Teekkaritalolla! Luvassa kesän muisteloita, mahtavaa tunnelmaa ja ihanien opiskeluystävien seuraa. Talolla on myös sauna ja palju lämpimänä joten OPM (x2) ! Tule siis mukaan muistelemaan miltä se opiskelijaelämä tuntuikaan! Open master's thesis position in Prof. Peppi Karppinen's laboratory

Hello, we are looking for a motivated master's thesis student with background in biochemistry or biology for our project on HIF signalling in adipogenesis. Professor Karppinen's group studies 2-oxoglutarate dependent dioxygenases, of which the oxygen sensor HIF-P4H-2 and its therapeutic potential in diseases has been of special interest. The group constitutes of skilled scientists and students with diverse backgrounds and nationalities. We utilize state-of-the art in vivo and in vitro methods ranging from clinical research to animal and cell models and structural studies of enzymes. In the thesis project, the student will amplify, titer and test the functionality of adenoviruses that have been designed to downregulate gene expression by RNA interference. With these adenoviruses, the student will investigate the role of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) signaling in adipocyte differentiation. In addition to learning how to analyze, present and discuss scientific data, the student will get diverse and valuable experience from cell culture (both cell lines and primary cells), adenoviruses, analysis of gene expression (qPCR, western blot, immunohistochemical staining) and basic laboratory work. The experimental part of the project will be done in the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of Oulu Kontinkangas campus.
