University of Helsinki
The
animal virus laboratory, led by Tero Ahola, at the Institute of Biotechnology
(University of Helsinki) is looking for a PhD student. The position is
available starting in the autumn of 2009, preferably from the beginning of
September. The project studies the formation, function and structure of RNA
virus replication complex. For a successful applicant, previous knowledge of
virus work is not necessary, but knowledge and some basic skills in molecular
and cell biology are useful. A person interested in molecular and cell biology,
and capable of developing skills towards independent scientific work is sought.
The laboratory has long experience in studying the replication mechanisms of
animal RNA viruses, using biochemical, virological and cell biological methods,
including advanced microscopy. The Institute of Biotechnology provides
excellent state-of-the-art facilities. General information concerning the group
