Bacteriophages are used in phage therapy to treat bacterial infections. Due to increase in the numbers of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, alternative approaches are needed for treatment of bacterial infections. A project has been inititated at Haartman Institute, University of Helsinki, to set up a Phage Treatment Laboratory. We look for a microbiologist to a fixed-term position whose duties include maintenance of phage collection, characterization of the phages and isolation of novel phages.

Fixed term: 1.6.2015 – 31.12.2016

Requirements: MSc in microbiology, earlier experience with bacteriophages is regarded as a bonus
