Development of a Gene Therapy for Epilepsy
The Neurobiochemistry group at the Department of Pharmacology invites applications for a PhD student position within
the doctoral college „Signal Processing in Neurons“ as of Summer 2017. Deadline for applications is March 31th.
The position focuses on the development of a gene therapy for epilepsy. Neuropeptides and modified peptides will be analyzed
in cell-based assays and animal models for their antiepileptic and disease-modifying properties and their potential for side effects.
The position is financed for 36 months with the possibility to extend for an additional year after positive evaluation.
The necessary funding has been secured. Salary will be in accordance with the regulations of the Austrian Science Fund. Compensation includes health insurance and vacation time.
The entire PhD training is in compliance with the Bologna criteria for an international PhD and will be provided in English.
Attendance and data presentations at international and national meetings will be supported.
Your profile:
You are highly motivated and hold a Master or Diploma degree in neurosciences,
biology, pharmacy or medicine.
You have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research with a focus on neuroscience.
You have a very good command of English and strong organizational skills.
You have didactic skills and are willing to contribute to the training and education of fellow students.
Previous experience in research activities and experience in the analysis of (EEG) data including statistics are of advantage
but not a precondition
