Applications are invited for PhD studentship to work in a project striving to understand molecular mechanisms maintaining intestinal epithelial homeostasis in health and disease led by Dr Keijo Viiri. Project focuses on epigenetic factors (e.g. Polycomb) and transcriptional factors involved in intestinal stem cell differentiation by using intestinal organoids, knockout mouse models and genome-wide methods such as ChIP-Seq, Gro-Seq and iCLIP. The project comprises also experimentation with human biopsies, and intestinal organoids derived thereof, in endeavours to unveil underlying mechanisms in the pathogenesis of celiac disease. Applicants must have a higher university degree and documented experience in basic experimental molecular biology research (MSc or equivalent thesis) and must be highly motivated and research-oriented person with eagerness to pursue career in science. In addition, experience in chromatin biology and deep sequencing techniques and /or analyses are appreciated. The remuneration of the doctoral student position is based on level 2 of the job-related salary element for teaching and research personnel in salary system of the Finnish Universities. The basic salary will be supplemented with a performance increment based on the employee´s individual performance. The position is subject to a four-month probationary period.
