Dear all,

We warmly welcome M.Sc. students to join Ulla Petäjä-Repo group for Pro-Gradu or Orientation at the Research Unit of Biomedicine.

Our research is focused on studying the mechanisms that regulate the functional activation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). These integral membrane proteins are key players of cellular signaling and the primary target of about one third of all presently available therapeutic drugs. Projects on different model GPCRs with a role in neurological, cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases are available.

Working in our group, the student will acquire a diversity of laboratory skills and, depending on the project, use a wide variety of methods such as:

• Cell culture work
• Immunoprecipitation and Western blotting
• BRET – bioluminescence resonance energy transfer
• Isolation of plasmid DNA
• Cloning, primer design and PCR
