BioMediTech is a joint institute of the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. BioMediTech?s research is concentrated in the fields of biosciences and medical technology.
The NeuroGroup in the area of regenerative medicine in the University of Tampere focuses on producing both neuronal and glial cells from human pluripotent stem cells. The aim is to characterize the produced cells by their gene and protein expression and specifically study the cells? maturation and electrophysiological functionality both in single cell and network levels. Co-culture systems containing several cell types in 2- or 3D utilizing biomaterials are also established. The group focuses on applications in e.g. in vitro modeling of biological processes and neurological diseases, graft development, and neurotoxicity screening platforms.
The NeuroGroup is seeking for its ?Biomimicking the brain - towards 3D neuronal network dynamics (3DNeuroN)? EU funded project an experienced electrophysiologist (preferably PhD). The work includes both intra- and extracellular measurements of produced stem cell-derived neuronal and glial cells in single-cell and in network levels.
The successful applicant has experience in in vitro patch clamp measurements of neuronal and/or glial cells. The ability to perform MEA measurements, Ca2+ imaging, and 3D patch clamp measurements and knowhow on programming and signal analysis is an advantage.
This position for a Researcher/Post-doctoral researcher is at first until the end of 2013 with possible 1 year extension.
