Subject: [Bco] PhD-student/post doctoral position at the Institute of
Biotechnology, Helsinki
A
PhD-student/post doctoral position is available at the Institute of
Biotechnology, University of Helsinki, in the Nuclear Actin lab, headed by Dr.
Maria Vartiainen.
Our
laboratory is studying the role of actin and actin-binding proteins in the
nucleus, especially in the context of regulating gene expression. Actin
cytoskeleton plays important roles in many cell biological processes, and
defects in its regulation are associated with many diseases, including cancer.
The project will involve the use of a wide range of biochemical and cell
biological methods with strong emphasis on advanced live-cell imaging
techniques. We are looking for enthusiastic and hard-working candidates;
previous experience in cell culture, molecular biology and light microscopy
techniques would be an advantage. Salary will be based on the University salary
scheme for teaching and research personnel, and composed of both task related
and personal performance components. Starting date is negotiable.
Applications, including CV and contact information of at least one referee,
should be sent (before 30.9.2010) preferably by email.
