Research group of Dr. Peppi Karppinen (University of Oulu, Institute of Biosciences, Dept. Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) is looking for a well-motivated and talented pro-gradu-student to a project characterizing cellular hypoxia response in physiology and cancer.
We study the hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) hydroxylases which regulate gene expression post-translationally oxygen dependently. Our recently established research group is situated at the Medical Faculty (Aapisitie 7) in renovated facilities equipped with modern equipments. We contribute to and benefit from the critical mass of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, which has three large research groups and six smaller ones and has trained a record number of PhD-student at the Medical Faculty. Our group is a member in the Oulu Center of Cell-Matrix Research (OCCMR)-community and collaborates with several groups in Biocenter Oulu.
If you are interested in doing your pro-gradu in our group, please contact Peppi Karppinen: peppi.karppinen (at) oulu.fi, phone: 08-5375822.
