Subject: [Bco] PhD student position in the immunology group, University of Dundee

 

Based in the Immunology group in the Centre for Oncology and Molecular, Division of Medical Sciences, University of Dundee, this PhD student position is an exciting opportunity for candidates with a strong interest in immunology and with at least a 2.1 honours degree in a Life Science related subject (or equivalent). The position is funded for 3 years by Tenovus Scotland, and is open to EU/home students only.

 

The project will involve studies of molecular mechanisms involved in lymphocyte adhesion and signalling. In particular, signalling pathways and mechanisms involved in the regulation of lymphocyte integrins and cell adhesion under flow conditions will be explored. The project will involve a wide variety of techniques including molecular biology, biochemistry, isolation and culture of primary leukocyte, flow cytometry, and cell adhesion assays. The position is based in the well-funded laboratory of Dr Susanna Fagerholm ( http://www.dundee.ac.uk/cmdn/staff/susanna_fagerholm ), and the project will involve close links and collaborations with the College of Life Sciences, University of Dundee.

The position is available from August/September 2010 and is for a fixed term of 3 years.
