Subject: [Bco] PhD position in the group of Brendan Battersby, Biomedicum Helsinki

A Ph.D. position is available in Biomedicum Helsinki at the University of Helsinki, to investigate the genetic regulation of mitochondria in the group of Brendan Battersby. A motivated candidate with an interest or background in genetics, developmental biology, cell biology, or biochemistry would be an advantage for this position. The general interest of our lab is to investigate the mechanisms that regulate mitochondria and mitochondrial DNA during development and in a tissue-specific manner to understand factors important in mediating human mitochondrial diseases.

Further details of our research program can be found at  http://research.med.helsinki.fi/neuro/battersby/default.htm

Our laboratory is a member of the Academy of Finland Center of Excellence in Mitochondrial Disease and Aging (FinMIT) (http://www.uta.fi/imt/finmit/) and is located within the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Medicine Research Program of Molecular Neurology at Biomedicum Helsinki (http://biomedicum.com).
