We are looking for a computational biology expert for a four year project funded by the Academy of Finland. In the project we will model interactions between bacterial species in a mixed culture. The place is primarily open for a post doctoral researcher but applications from exceptional phd candidates will also be considered. The project will offer interesting challenges and quite exceptional possibilities to model the described phenomena. At the start we will investigate and model three bacterial species, their pair-wise interactions and all three together. Models will be based on unusually large and extensive set of data as we have annotated reference genomes for all the species, as well as DNA modifications, RNASeq and HT proteomics data for several timepoints.
We expect the applicant to have strong background in computational models and skills apply them to biological data. Basic skills in bioinformatics are a considerable strength and the work also requires interest to understand the biological background regarding the research questions.
